Pirots 4 - Inferno Review

In December, ELK Studios will close the Fearful Four space saga by releasing the last location in Pirots 4 - Inferno. The game is packed with the same base mechanics, but comes with a new set of features. It offers the usual €1 million in cash to those ready to sacrifice the max bet and have the luck to complete the conquest. And it is a conquest to remember!

ELK Studios is one of those slot providers that require no introduction, and it continues to draw attention despite the low RTP rates. The studio started the Pirots series in 2023 and introduced an intriguing quarter of Swashbuckle birds. But the best part was the payout engine - CollectR mechanic, like nothing else before. It was kept in all sequels to the series throughout the years, except for the weird Pirots X.

Pirots 4 was launched in July 2025 with the name Lost in Space and shortly after that fans witnessed the first evolution - Frozen Fury. Pirots 4 - Inferno Slot - Game Screen

Pirots 4 - Inferno includes 4 birds and 4 gems - red, purple, green, and blue. At the start of a spin, birds are placed in random positions and all gems are of level 1. During the round, they can be upgraded individually or as a full package by feature symbols with 1, 2, or 3 steps. Gems can be boosted up to level 7!

• Red Gems pay from 0.10x to 30x the bet;
• Purple Gems pay from 0.10x to 15x the bet;
• Green Gems pay from 0.05x to 10x the bet;
• Blue Gems pay from 0.05x to 7.50x the bet.

When intact, the grid is a space station which starts with a layout of 6x6. Birds can collect only gems and wild symbols of the same color adjacent to them. They can move multiple times during the same round and also collect feature symbols. Gems and wilds will also be accumulated in a special Symbol Collection meter on top of the reels.

Whenever no bird can move anymore, a symbol refill will be initiated and all gaps will be filled out by symbols falling from above. If filled out the Symbol Collection meter will release a feature symbol at the end of the sequence and it can hold up to 3 pending feature symbols. I will explain their types and powers later!

The Pirots 4 - Inferno RTP rate continues to be 94%, just like with all the sequels from the series before. The game is characterized by high levels of volatility, and the betting range provides several stake levels between €0.20 and €100 per spin. Power Clash

Seasoned slot enthusiasts, fans of the Pirots series are surely aware of the Switcheroo feature. If two birds end their turns on adjacent positions, there is a random chance to trigger Switcheroo or Space Switcheroo. The first one will allow them to switch places vertically or horizontally. Space Switcheroo moves one of the birds to the corner of the grid or to the next symbol of the respective color.

Power Clash is a similar feature, also random, which may activate if 3 or 4 birds end next to each other on adjacent positions. They start a battle on one of the positions and remove all gems in a 5x5 area around. After the clash, the birds fly away to the corners of the grid and collect all corner bombs, rockets, black holes, coins, and scatters (bonus and super bonus) on their paths.

Corner Bombs & Space Section

Corner Bombs are located in the 4 inner corners of the space stations, and on every spin, they are assigned to a random bird color. Gems and feature symbols are available on top of the corner bombs and can be collected. If that happens by a bird of the same color as the corner bomb, it will activate and detonate.

Birds fly away from the grid, and all gems are removed in a 3x3 area from the blast. The connected space station sections near the explosions are also removed. Corner Bombs detonations expand the grid in all 4 corners up to 8x8. Moreover, a feature symbol release is initiated after the explosion, and it will convert random gems into random feature symbols.

Feature Symbols

Pirots 4 - Inferno is loaded with 10 feature symbols as listed below. Birds can collect them during their movements on the grid, and they will activate when no more gems are available on their paths. Here is what the feature symbols do:

• Upgrade - upgrades one gem type with 1 to 3 steps;
• Upgrade All - upgrades all gem types with 1 to 3 steps;
• Rocket - activates the Fire Minions feature;
• Transform - convert a gem cluster to the same color as the bird that has collected the symbol. Gems in random positions can also be converted into feature symbols;
• Spacecorn - places Spacecorn symbols on the grid, and birds can cross empty spaces upon collecting them;
• Black Hole - activates the Black Hole feature when birds don’t have moves. The feature absorbs all birds and symbols and throws them back in a different order;
• Coins - have random cash values paid upon collection. MAX WIN Coin pays 10,000x and terminates the session;
• Wild Symbol;
• Bonus Scatters;
• Super Bonus Scatters.

Fire Minions Feature

Fire Minions appear in random positions on the grid in numbers of 1 to 4. They set fire to Birds that rested diagonally, vertically, or horizontally adjacent to them. The lit bird starts a fire marathon and can light up other birds, too. It goes through a random number of steps in random directions and sets Mystery Fire on the trail.

Burned birds are removed from the grid, but can drop in the following symbol refl. Mystery Fires reveal random gems or Coins, and they can have higher levels. The collection sequence remains as per the original CollectR rules.

Inferno Coin Game & Charlie Feature

Inferno Coin Game is based on the classic Hold & Win minigame, but with multiple twists. It can only be triggered if the birds empty the entire grid during the Spacecorn feature. It starts on a new 9x9 grid with a “Don’t Press” button at the center, all four birds placed in the 4 corners, and 4 Fire Minions.

Players get 3 drops or respins and the game begins! The counter can be reset back to 3 if a Coin, Bird, or Fire Minion drop. Birds collect all Coins adjacent to them, just like in the base game. If a bird presses the “Don’t Press” button, the Charlie Feature will begin. That can happen if a bird is on fire during a fire marathon. Charlie Feature sets all birds on fire and creates maximum chaos. It can also randomly retrigger when no respins are left and continue the Inferno Coin Game.

Fireballs, Space Section & Space Portals

Fireballs may trigger randomly and detonate 1, 2, 3, or all 4 Corner Bombs. Birds fly away, a refill is initiated, and the birds come back. The Space Section has 4 parts, which can serve as tunnels if at least one is removed after a detonation. Birds can go through if the gems and symbols on both ends are collectible.

Space Portals act similarly as the Space Section fragments. They are created when the grid has reached its 8x8 maximum and the respective corners have been blasted. Birds can travel from one Space Portal to another if the symbols on top of both are collectible.

Bonus Game & Super Bonus Game

If you collect 3 Bonus scatters during the same refill sequence, Free Drops is triggered and you will get 5 free spins. If one of the scatters is Super Bonus, the minigame will be started on an 8x8 grid with Upgrade symbols boosting all gem types. Scatters award extra drops during the bonus, and the Symbol Collection meter and gem levels progress is persistent.

Our Verdict

Whatever I say about Pirots 4 - Inferno and the series as a whole will not be enough, and ELK Studios easily cross every line. These birds seem indestructible, and what once started in the Caribbean is now in outer space. The fun continues from where it ended in Pirots 3, and the Jurassic-styled Pirots 2 is long forgotten.

The new stuff is massive and features like Fire Minions, Space Portals, and Black Holes can have a huge effect on the action. This series is one of the very few where the base game seems more dynamic and intriguing than the bonus rounds. Perhaps some very demanding slot enthusiasts may sense a lack of true originality, but all 3 worlds of Pirots 4 have plenty to offer. So, the only question that remains is where to, for the next quest of the Fearful Four!
