Minedrop Game Review

Minedrop is an instant win game wrapped in an innovative pack by the fast-growing game developer Paperclip Gaming. It was introduced back in September to the members of Stake.com, exclusively. The game features a Minecraft-inspired theme, but a completely different gameplay. It comes with a decent payout rate and solid win capacity!

It won’t be strange if you have never heard of Paperclip Gaming before, because the provider is brand-new and operates in a rather limited area. It is actually an in-house developing studio of Stake, a crypto-friendly online casino operated by Medium Rare N.V. Paperclip Gaming was started in 2025, but already has released more than 20 games. It uses a proprietary Remote Gaming Server (RGS) technology - Stake Engine.

The provider started in May, releasing 2 debut online slots - Scroll Keeper and Deadspin Bonanza, but quickly moved to other categories. Minedrop is, as Paperclip claims, a “burst game”, although it does not utilize the usual Crash mechanic. The result of a game round is rather fixed, whether winning or losing, which suggests an RNG engine.

The goal is simple: break the blocks from top to bottom to unlock cash prizes and eventually multiplier boosts. You’ll get a random number of mining blades to do so, some more powerful than others. Minedrop is packed with a very wide betting range, offering 39 stake levels between €0.10 and €1,000 per round. The game is packed with Quickspin and Autoplay as well, along with the chance and buy features, I mentioned above. Now, a round starts with a 5x6 grid made of random types of blocks and a 5x3 grid on top filled with pickaxes and bonus symbols.

Blocks are made of different materials and naturally, have different durability. Basically, that means you have to hit them more times to break and extract the goodies. Dirt Blocks require a single hit, but pay nothing, while Stone Blocks need 2 hits and pay 0.10x the bet. Each block pays a separate reward, and the top 2 or 3 rows are always made of dirt and stone.

Ruby Blocks and Gold Blocks require 4 and 5 hits and pay 1x and 3x, respectively, while Diamond Blocks - 6 hits for 5x. Obsidian Blocks are the hardest and most profitable ones, paying 25x the bet, but only after 7 hits. At the same time, you can get up to different types of Pickaxes. Each one provides a fixed number of hits:

• Wooden Pickaxe - 1 Hit
• Stone Pickaxe - 2 Hits
• Gold Pickaxe - 3 Hits
• Diamond Pickaxe - 5 Hits

The Minedrop RTP rate is 96%, which looks good, but it’s hard to compare as other games like this one are practically missing. The expected levels of volatility are medium to high, according to the Paperclip Gaming memo. The Minedrop max win is quite a blockbuster - 5,000x the bet, which can easily go above a mill with one of the higher stakes!

Minedrop would have been a boring casino game if it weren’t for the awesome features added by the provider. They are quite simple, actually, but effectively spice up the action and add the flair of hope. I must admit that a player needs to be persistent to get sizable winnings here, but they are available, so you only have to dig them out!

Upgrades & Treasure Chests

Special symbols can land on the 5x3 grid, along with the Pickaxe, and they can change everything. Eye Symbols are scatters, and you will need those to activate the bonus minigame. Spellbooks have magical power, and if any land below a wooden, stone, or gold pickaxe, it will transform it into a diamond pickaxe (5x). TNT Blocks will destroy the blocks they land on, along with those on both sides.

Treasure Chests lie beneath the 5x6 grid and are the greatest reward if you manage to smash successfully the entire reel above. Each one contains a total win multiplier of a random value. There is no official information about the limits of these multipliers. During my test session, I managed to reach a Treasure Chest several times, and the multiplier was always x2 or x3.

Free Spins Bonus

Scatter symbols are the key to the Free Spins bonus, and you will need 3 or more to activate the minigame. All pickaxes and other symbols, if any, will be played on the current 5x6 grid, and it will not reset. Moreover, you will receive 4 free spins during which the blocks will remain persistent and the chance of crashing them is significantly increased.

Ante Bet & Bonus Buy

Extra Chance is an Ante Bet and if enabled, it will increase the base bet by 3x. In return, you will get increased odds for activating the bonus and more balanced volatility levels - medium. Bonus Buy comes with high volatility and guarantees 4 free spins for a price of 100x the bet. Both features keep the overall RTP of Minedrop unchanged (96%).

Theme & Graphics

Minedrop comes with a light Mining theme and unique gameplay. Paperclip Gaming has the resources to build visually appealing casino games, but has preferred a different approach here. Minedrop’s interface is closer to the retro 8-bit games from several decades ago. Pixels of the sky are easy to spot, and the quality of the active zone is no different.

But as I said, that is a searched effect, and the actual audio and visual quality is up to par. The soundtrack is rather generic and strives to awaken nostalgia in some players. Minedrop is fully compatible with Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as with all major browsers. I recommend playing it in portrait mode because of the 5x6 + 5x3 layout.

Our Verdict

Minedrop is another cleverly crafted game by Paperclip, and the provider is clearly demonstrating potential. The exclusivity of the games for a single online casino is a drawback for players from certain regions. However, for those who have access to the crypto platform, that is a huge advantage. Minedrop performs surprisingly well in all technicals!

It has the same RTP rate as other Paperclip instant win games, such as Pinball Peak and Pinball Street. The maximum win is also comparable, although Konbini (20,000x) and Penguins Can Fly (10,000x) are the provider’s leaders here. In terms of gameplay, Minedrop breaks the boundaries and offers an intriguing mix of slot play and instant-win mechanics. The presence of special symbols, free spins, bonus buy, and bet booster is admirable.
