Case Closed looked very promising at first glance, but it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. It’s a decent enough crime mystery release from Red Tiger, and you win prizes in 3 different tiers by successfully interrogating suspects. Unlocking the 4th suspect is crucial, however, as this is how you can win big.

The base game is pretty standard stuff in and of itself, but there is a massive payout difference from 4-of-a-kind wins to 5-oak wins. Anyway, what you really want is to collect evidence scatters to solve cases, as this will make the interrogations feature easier for you. It will also unlock the 4th suspect, and getting the truth out of this person awards 2,000x the stake. Winnings from the 3 other suspects will be piled on as well, so the Case Closed max win is 2,640x your stake. Overall, a decent noir release, but more could’ve been done with this idea.

• Solving case 3 adds a 4th suspect to the top of the stack, and this suspect pays 2,000x the stake if the interrogation is successful. You must first successfully interrogate all of the 3 regular suspects to get to number 4, however.

Review Summary And Verdict

We can’t help but feel that some good ideas have gone to waste in this Red Tiger release, and it’s not only because of the math model. Red Tiger finally releases a game with a top-tier RTP above the “magic” 96 % threshold, and then they decide to shoot their own foot with a weak 2,640x potential. It’s not uncommon for this developer, but we thought they had grown out of it by now. Anyway, Case Closed game could’ve been developed further before Red Tiger “closed the case”, and it could’ve been a hardboiled noir release with a bit more effort.

The detective voiceover is decent, but more could’ve been done with it, and the features are a bit strange as well. You get the interrogation feature on a regular basis, but even getting to the top suspect will in many cases award smaller payouts (and 500x max). You therefore need to unlock the 4th suspect to truly win big, and this can take a while. It’s therefore annoying each time the opportunity to interrogate the mysterious 4th suspected is blown in the lower tiers. We like what Red Tiger has attempted with Case Closed, but the execution is unfortunately below par for this developer.
