French macarons are light and airy, offering a variety of flavours to those who cherish sweets. Many people can’t resist this delicacy, and as it seems in Playtech’s The Racaroon slot, neither do raccoons. The game was released at the end of July, and it was developed by one of the provider’s top studios, Ash Gaming.

Playtech is a leading developer of premium iGaming content and uses its in-house studios to craft its finest online slots. The Racaroon comes with a 5x3 grid and 40 fixed lines, paying from left to right. The sweet and friendly raccoon is a wild symbol and it can land only in the middle of the grid. It substitutes for all regular symbols and helps you collect more prizes. As you have noticed, the slot does not offer too impressive line wins, but with help from the bonus features and special mechanics, the scales are balanced.

The Racaroon RTP rate is slightly below the average - 95.83%, but the medium levels of volatility compensate. The betting range is extremely wide, typical for Playtech - €0.20 to €360 per spin. The Racaroon max win is 5,235x the bet and exceeds other slots by the provider with similar mechanics.

The Racaroon is all about special prize collection, jackpots, upgradable multipliers, and bonus minigames. Every spin can deliver something and is a step closer to the ultimate prize. The good news is that one of the bonuses can be purchased, but the rest require patience and luck.

Hot Zone & Special Prizes

Hot Zone is a special position on the grid located on reel 3 and row 2. Whenever the wild raccoon lands there, it will substitute for all regulars and will collect Cash Prize values. Cash Prizes land in the form of different macarons all over the board and carry cash values:

• Purple Cash Prizes - 1x the bet
• Pink Cash Prizes - 1.50x the bet
• Yellow Cash Prizes - 2x, 2.25x, 2.50x, 3x, 3.75x, or 5x the bet

The game also features increasing special prizes, which start as fixed jackpots, but get boosted with every macaron symbol. These French sweets will be collected by the respective jackpots and by the big pot to the left. The green, pink, and purple macarons in view increase the respective jackpots by 0.10x, while yellow macarons - with 0.25x.

Rewind Feature is random and may activate at the end of a base game spin if the raccoon does not appear in the Hot Zone. If that happens, the Hot Zone will rewind and bring the wild symbol.

Bonus Symbols & Win Multiplier

The Win Multiplier is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen, and it starts from x1. This multiplier boosts the size of Special Prizes under certain conditions. It can reach x10 and does not reset. In order to take advantage of it, players need to have the “X” bonus symbol in view on the grid.

Two more bonus symbols can land on the grid! “Bonus” will trigger the Racaroon Respins feature if it is collected by a wild symbol. “1up” increases the current Win Multiplier value by +1 up to x10. Keep in mind that some bonus symbols can’t land with others in the same spin.

Racaroon Respins Feature

Racaroon Respins is a Hold & Win bonus minigame with special symbols and a Grand Prize. Players get 3 respins to land new symbols on the board. Hot Zone is active with the raccoon there, and all landed Cash Prizes are multiplied by the current win multiplier. At the end of the bonus, the multiplier value is reset to x1.

During Racaroon Respins, “1up” lifts the win multiplier by x1 and every Cash Prize or 1up landing resets the respin counter back to 3. If you cover the whole grid with 14 Cash Prizes, the Grand Prize of 5,000x the bet will be awarded. When the respin counter reaches zero and the bonus is ended, there is a chance for the Golden Macaroon feature to be triggered.

Golden Macaroon is a Pick Bonus with a guaranteed reward! It can trigger randomly on any base game spin with a Special Prize collection or at the end of the Racaroon Respins bonus. Buy Feature

Buy Feature is available via a button in the lower left corner of your screen. It might be disabled above a certain bet threshold or in countries where regulators do not allow such features. You can activate Bonus Buy with a different win multiplier, but keep in mind that the price won't stay the same. If the multiplier is x1, the price is 20x, while if you choose x10, the feature’s cost will become 122.50x the bet.

Theme & Graphics

The Racaroon is a colorful slot game where players can easily sense the attention to detail and have fun with the light-hearted Raccoon theme. The action takes place in a pastry shop, I guess somewhere in France, since our cute friend speaks the language. In fact, the French voiceover is exactly what you have expected when French sweets are on the roll.

The exquisite quality of graphics and animation effects is complemented by fast gameplay and a nice audio set. Despite the multiple elements around the grid, their presence does not harm the overall vibe. The Racaroon is optimized via HTML5 and is fully compatible with Android and iOS, along with all browsers.

Pros And Cons Of The Racaroon Slot

Our Verdict

The Racaroon is truly an online slot that is worth the spin! Indeed, none of the features within are innovative, but the combination is nice, and the game’s mechanic has unlimited entertainment potential. That and the medium volatility compensate fairly for the several flaws, like an under-average RTP.

The set of features here is totally different in comparison to the demonic-themed slot from several weeks ago. And while Lil’ Demon Double Heat repeats more or less the pack of Lil Sphinx, The Racaroon does not. The provider has even replaced the Extra Bet Mode with Bonus Buy, and has kept only the Hot Zone and Rewind Feature.

A new addition is the increasing jackpots, too, as the special prizes in the previous editions were fixed and static. The frequent appearance of macarons on the reels guarantees a decent boost of the jackpots until the Golden Macaroon feature is executed. So, Playtech and Ash have once again delivered a masterpiece that ranks in several niches with ease!
