Reactoonz 2 slot review
Play'n Go listened to its fans and increased the maximum potential of Reactoonz 2
Initially the max win was planned to be below the 3,000x mark but Play N Go listened to the feedback from the gambling community and increased the number to 5,083x.
The goons are back and more fun than ever! Meet Reactoonz 2, the long-awaited continuation to the cult Play'n Go's slot. It has been almost 3 years now since the release of the original Rectoonz, and the developers eventually come up with a sequel that is believed to surpass the success of its older brother. As soon as the first part was released back in 2017, it immediately captured the hearts and minds of slot enthusiasts all over the globe, and even though quite a long time has passed, it still continues to attract more and more players. It was a huge sensation overall, so fans have their hopes set really high for the second part.
There are not so many significant differences between the two parts, to be honest. A couple of extra features were added to make the gameplay even more exciting, while in terms of the looks Play'n Go kept the original DNA. Anyway, let's take a closer look at what changes did the game undergo to develop a sense of what Reactoonz 2 can offer.
Reactoonz 2 - Theme and Design
Loading the game will take you to a familiar setting for as alluded to earlier, the look remained almost identical to the first part. Play'n Go has taken a lazy approach to the design, though, thus don't expect any remarkable visuals here. Set in an enigmatic cosmic realm, the semi-transparent reels showcase a rather basic blue background with energy flows floating across it. It's not the best graphical slot for sure since the visuals are pretty simple, however, it's the general ambiance that plays a central role here. The cartoonish look is perfectly complemented by an energic soundtrack that plays whilst you spin the reels, capturing the essential vibe and adding a final touch to the gameplay.
As we head over to the paytable we see a bunch of recognizable symbols that were present in the first part of Reactoonz. Here we get the same 8 bizarre creatures as regulars, split into highs and lows. The payouts are rather promising actually since full combos will award from 3x to 500x of the total bet.
Helping you to form winning combinations are 4 Wild symbols, each of which acts as a substitute for any other regular symbol and comes with its own unique ability. Those include Uncharged Wilds, Energoon Wilds, Electric Wilds, and Gargatoon Wilds. More on that below.
Reactoonz 2 - Technical Aspects
Alike the previous part of Reactoonz, this slot is played across a 7x7 sized grid with Cluster Pays mechanic, meaning that you have to match symbols in clusters to get rewarded. You'll require 5 horizontally and vertically adjacent symbols to score a win, while 15+ clusters are the most desirable for they can lead to majestic prizes.
When it comes to the math model, it's a bit frustrating to report that Play'n Go has slightly cut the stats in comparison to the original, though, the potential has been bumped up after the devs heard the voice of people. One thing that remained the same is the volatility level, which is still high, rated by the developer 8 out of 10, so adjust your bets wiser to survive in the long run. Speaking of bets, players drop in by placing from 0.2$ to 100$ per spin, so you'll undoubtedly find your preferred bet option from the available.
The RTP was lightly decreased to 96.2%, though, you are more likely to get 94.2% for Reactoonz 2 comes with ranging RTP values, which may vary depending on where you play. Even though 96.2% is claimed to be the default value, most of the operators choose the second option with the bigger House Edge, so be sure to check the specs before depositing.
Reactoonz 2 - Bonus Features
True to the style, Reactoonz 2 is loaded with features, however, it's all about filling the meters that are the key to the success here, with the help of which all other in-game extras could be triggered.
Forming winning clusters is how you fill those meters, and the Cascading Wins feature comes to the rescue. Whenever a winning cluster lands, all winning symbols get removed from the grid to allow new ones to tumble down onto the reel set and occupy vacant spaces. Chains of consecutive wins are possible also for the feature continues to work up to the moment when no new clusters could be made.
On any spin, a random low-paying symbol may be chosen to become fluctuating. When fluctuating symbols get removed from the grid, the Fluctometer is charged. Filling the Fluctometer will award up to 3 Electric Wilds, which substitute any other regulars and zap them as well, destroying all instances of that goon in view. Moreover, either at the beginning of a spin or after a cascade Uncharged Wilds may appear on the grid, though, they will remain inactive until a win occurs next to them. In this case, they'll charge to turn into Electric Wilds. It's possible to charge the Fluctometer more than once on any spin, though, it becomes inactive once Gargatoons come into play.
The Quantometer is the next meter, which is used to summon Gargatoons and Energoons. Any regular symbols removed from the grid with the help of Electic Wilds charge it, with each symbol representing 1 charge. The Quantometer has 4 levels:
- Level 1 - 55 charges. Unleashes 4 1x1 sized Energoon Wilds.
- Level 2 - 85 charges. Unleashes one 2x2 Energoon Wild.
- Level 3 - 110 charges. Unleashes one 3x3 Gargatoon Wild.
- Overcharge - 135 charges. Adds 2x Multipliers to all Gargatoon Wilds.
Once the Gargatoon is unleashed, the Quantometer will be disabled, thus the retriggers are not possible. However, more Gargatoons are available once you reach level 3. When a 3x3 Gargatoon Wild triggers a cascade, it breaks into two 2x2 Gargatoons, which in turn can break into 9 1x1 Gargatoons after triggering another cascade.
Furthermore, after all of the above is done, in case 2 or more Electric Wilds remain on the grid, the Wild Pair Explosion will be activated. Here are the possible scenarios:
- If the Electric Wilds are adjacent, all symbols in view except for the Wilds will be destroyed to trigger another cascade.
- If the Electric Wilds are not adjacent, all the symbols between them will be destroyed, giving you a cascade.
In case no winning clusters appear after the cascade, the symbols will be destroyed once more. The cascades will continue to occur until there are less than 2 Electric Wilds remained on the grid.

Reactoonz 2 - Verdict
Play'n Go did a great job of developing this one, so that both the fans of the first part and newcomers will be pleased with the release of Reactoonz 2. It's a nod to the original that the developers have taken the same approach to the design and kept everything almost untouched, and at the same time, the enhancement of the feature set only adds a new layer of entertainment to the legendary slot.
It's likely to seem quite complicated to you at first glance, though, a couple of spins will clear everything out. Consecutive wins will do all the job for you, unleashing those Wilds and applying modifiers, so there's actually nothing tricky about the gameplay indeed. It does not concede the original Reactoonz in terms of dynamics for the gameplay is even more compelling than ever, so those who are into fast-paced games won't have anything to complain about here.
Another good thing is that Play'n Go slightly increased the maximum potential, thus instead of 4,570.3x we get 5,083x available in the sequel. It's not a kind of massive upgrade, though, it feels nice to be able to hit bigger prizes, especially regarding that Reactoonz 2 was initially claimed to have only 3,000x max payout. After a wave of indignation it has been bumped up, so we should pay credits Play'n Go for listening to players.
All said and done, Play'n Go's brainchild was given a rebirth, and despite having a couple of issues that may spoil the first impression, it's even more appealing than the original. It might not win everyone's heart due to being just a remake instead of an entirely new game, but the end result is surely going to make some waves among casino hounds and slot enthusiasts.
