The Jack & Rose Review
The Jack & Rose is an upcoming online slot by Kitsune Studios, a partner of the industry leader Hacksaw Gaming. It is expected to hit the market in the middle of May and comes with a rather intriguing plot. Or, unusual, if I may, as the storyline introduces the end of the world, spirits, a pub, and lots of liquor, obviously. Packed with a solid payout potential and some awesome bonus features, the tale is worth telling!
A couple of years ago, Hacksaw Gaming introduced its unique OpenRGS program, striving to help new studios. It offers backup and valuable resources to providers with more boutique structures. Kitsune Studios is one of the first to join the provider’s network and already has several successful releases. Fans are surely aware of titles like Bonnie’s Buccaneers, The Library, and Miss Candy’s Sweet Escape, and now, another potential hit is on the horizon!
The Jack & Rose is quite an interesting name, as is the story told in the game’s intro. It is a pub, and Jack is either the bartender working there or the owner of it. He has more than distinguished clientela since the Four Spirits have decided to choose it for their last round. Why, well, it seems that the world is going to an end and Sapphire, Jurgen, Johnny, and Faye are a group of supernatural spirits that love beer and cocktails.
The Jack & Rose takes place on a large grid of 6x5 and offers just 19 paylines, stretching from the leftmost reel to the right. Don’t worry as if the right symbols line up, those paylines will be more than enough! The game is packed with 4 multiplier wilds that can expand and do the trick, as well as a couple of Free Spins bonus modes among other features. Run The Jack & Rose demo to find out more or continue with my dedicated review!

The Jack & Rose is based on wild-expanding mechanics, but they only enhance the symbol payouts. You will find 5 types of drinks as high-valued figures and 5 card symbols as the low-valued ones. All of them pay for 3, 4, 5, or 6 of a kind, and Green Cocktails are on top, paying from 2x to 50x the bet. Yellows and Reds deliver between 1x and 25x, while Blues and Beers - 0.50x to 15x.
As usual, the most common symbols involved in winning combinations will be the low-valued ones and As to 10s pay from 0.10x to 10x. Wild symbols substitute for all of these, and despite not paying cash when lined up, they have more intriguing powers. Wilds land on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 only, and I’ll introduce them more properly later. You can bet from €0.10 to €50 per spin, up to €150 via the slot’s ante bet.
The Jack & Rose RTP ranges, and at its highest, the rate is actually pretty good - 96.36%. It corresponds well with the featured high levels of volatility, but be advised that my test showed that periods of drought are possible. Perhaps the wisest approach would be with a betting strategy! The alternative RTP rates are 94% and 92%, while The Jack & Rose max win is desirable - 15,000x the bet.
The Jack & Rose Features
The Jack & Rose has a very simple bonus mechanic that relies on proven special features. It allows you to claim the max win in all game modes, so don’t worry about the odds. Wilds can land anywhere on the designated reels, but if they do on their connected ones, the magic happens. Here are all the details about the slot’s bonus features:
Wild Multipliers & Expanding Wild Reels
There are 4 Wild Multiplier symbols, and when any of them participates in a winning combination, it will be boosted by the respective multiplier. Multipliers are additive, so if more than one Wild Multiplier participates in a win, their values will be summed, and the total will increase the payout. Wild Multipliers are represented by the Four Spirits below and can have multiplier values from the listed orders:
- Blue Sapphire - x2, x3, or x4
- Red Jurgen - x5, x6, x7, x8, or x9
- Yellow Johnny - x10, x15, x20, or x25
- Green Faye - x30, x40, x50, x75, x100, or x200
These Wild Multipliers are connected to reels 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively. They can land anywhere across these columns, but if they land on their connected reels, they can expand. That, of course, only if by expansion they can participate in at least 1 winning combination. Wild Reels keep the multiplier values of the Wild Multipliers at the moment of their landing on the grid.
It Begins Bonus Game
It Begins is the 1st level of the bonus minigame, and you can trigger it by landing 3 scatter symbols. You will immediately get 10 free spins and +2 or +4 rounds if you land 2 or 3 scatters during the bonus. It Begins keeps the base game mechanics, but there is an increased chance for landing Wild Multiplier symbols.
Last Orders Bonus Game
Last Orders is the 2nd and highest level of bonus in The Jack & Rose online slot. It awards 10 free spins when 4 scatter symbols hit the reels at the same time. You can earn more, as I already explained in the previous section. Last Orders keeps the base game, and It Begins mechanics.
Furthermore, in this bonus tier, you can benefit from persistent activated Spirit Reels. Whenever you land a Wild Multiplier on its designated reel, it will be activated and will become a Spirit Reel. Whenever that’s done, the connected Wild Multiplier will always expand if it can participate in winning combinations, regardless of which reel it has landed. Just a few spins in that mode will convince you how much the add-on improves the consistency during the feature!

Buy Bonus
Buy Bonus is part of Hacksaw Gaming’s OpenRGS platform, so if the features are not prohibited in your region, you’ll be able to take advantage. The Jack & Rose menu offers 4 options in total with fixed prices. Make sure to check how each one changes the levels of volatility and RTP rate!
- BonusHunt FeatureSpins - 3x the bet - 5 times more likely to trigger a Free Spins bonus (96.29%)
- Spirit Reel FeatureSpins - 60x the bet - at least 3 Wild Multipliers will land. Free Spins is disabled (96.29%)
- It Begins - 100x the bet - get 3 scatter symbols (96.32%)
- Last Orders - 200x the bet - get 4 scatter symbols (96.31%)
Theme & Graphics
The Jack & Rose certainly has an unusual theme when you comprehend the whole picture. When you start the game, you get greeted by a man on the right, Jack, with glossy hair, wearing a suit, holding a pint, and smiling. The bar woodwork is magnificent, mixed with bricks on the left and a huge window showing us that it’s late after sunset. Various bottles are on the shelves, and you can also see a lighted candle and beer taps.
The quality of artwork is high, and the audio is out of this world, as are the glowing signs in blue, red, yellow, and green under some of the reels. They are the connection with the second part of the plot, while the Four Spirits only appear on the grid. The Jack & Rose offer fast-paced gameplay even without the help of Turbo and Super Turbo. It is also fully compatible with Android and iOS mobile devices.

- FS with persistent activated Spirit Reels
- Bonus Buy menu (optional)

Cons
- Be aware of adjustable RTP rate

- A reskin of the Life and Death online slot
Our Verdict
The Jack & Rose can be called brilliant but unfinished, or a try for an upgrade. Fans of Hacksaw Gaming who have been through most of the most successful titles released by the provider surely have already found a resemblance. Yes, the slot is a reskin of the 2025 masterpiece Life and Death, which stands with creative artwork and simple features that can easily amaze with effectiveness.
Of course, the same applies to The Jack & Rose, but the strange theme somehow leaves things unfinished. Expanding wilds carrying multipliers reaching x200 is a hell of a base, and we have seen similar approaches in other Hacksaw slots, like RIP City and Hot Ross. If you haven’t played Life and Death and you’re not exactly a fan of gothic designs, The Jack & Rose might be the way to enjoy these undoubtedly intriguing mechanics in a different package!
