Our Verdict

I don’t know about you, but I instantly unfollow or block people who post their dinner or other food stuff on social media. Although I can usually tolerate food-themed slots, I got a similar vibe from Sabor Mexicano for some reason. I think it’s the rather undelicate mix of traditional Mexican food, like tacos, with what look like dessert items. The pale white sauce on a red pepper didn’t do it for me either, and this game would’ve been better served using the regular cliché food items instead of this unusual selection.

Another thing that became annoying rather quickly was the constant “nice!” comments from the Mexican dude above the grid. If you’re gonna include action commentary, it’s always a good idea to not overdo it, or at least give the character a larger vocabulary to avoid endless repetition. Luckily, maxing out the turbo spin feature provides a quick workaround, as it automatically mutes all sound effects and commentary for a faster, less annoying session.

With that being said, Sabor Mexicano is a fairly entertaining dynamic grid release with a decent set of features to keep things interesting in all stages. However, there is hardly anything groundbreaking to see here. You get a dynamic grid experience with cascading reels, wilds on the way, and occasional synced reels, which is enough to spice up the base game and keep those top-up wins flowing. With relatively low symbol values across the board, larger payouts are more likely in the bonus round.

Of course, with up to 32,400 ways to win, anything is theoretically possible at any time, but the progressive bonus round win multiplier is still your most likely ticket to the game’s win cap. The problem is, we have no idea what this win cap might be, since 759 Gaming has not disclosed this rather crucial piece of information for whatever reason. A strange choice indeed, and while Sabor Mexicano has all the right ingredients for a decent gaming session, it adds up to a tired recipe we've tasted too many times already.
