Mines BB is the debut of the award-winning game provider Barbara Bang on the field of Minesweeper games. The title was released at the end of 2024 and joins the studio's instant-win games, like Dice BB. This Provably Fair game comes with a straightforward yet quite advanced gameplay considering the genre.

Barbara Bang is an innovative slot developer established in 2021 and recognized several times during major iGaming events. The company won "Industry Rising Star of the Year" at 2023 Balkans & CIS SiGMA and 2024 Americas SiGMA. Other significant awards include "Slot Debut" and "Slot Provider of the Year" in 2023 and 2024.

But besides slots, Barbara Bang has several instant-win games in its portfolio, as well as Blackjack Deluxe BB with an RTP rate of 99.60%! Shortly after the release of Mines BB, the provider also introduced Plinko BB, both powered by Provably Fair technology. I will explain more later in this review article.

Mines BB comes with a modern design and a 5x5 grid, offering the retro Minesweeper gameplay in a new pack. Players need to navigate bombs and reveal games to win rounds and cash out increasing prizes. There are 24 tiers with 1 to 24 bombs on the 25-position field, and the risk increases with every modification.

Mines BB requires luck and strategy and provides a top win of 10,000x the bet, but no more than $10,000. However, it's not available across all levels! In order to play for the max, you will need to set between 4 and 21 bombs on the grid. If you activate 1 or 24 bombs, the max prize will be 24x, 2 or 23 bombs - 288x, while 3 or 22 bombs can deliver up to 2,208x the wager.

Players can pick from a variety of stake levels, starting at $0.10 per round and reaching $500. Once you select the grid setup and your bet, hit the green Place a Bet button and start a round. To the left, you'll see your chance of revealing a Gem and the max win, while above the board, you can see the next win multiplier if your guess is correct.

Multipliers will increase up to the max win which will be achieved if you reveal all gems. If you encounter a Bomb, the round ends, and you lose your winnings. After every successful turn, you have the opportunity to Cashout via the green button to the left. Thus, you'll end the round and get your current winnings. The Mines BB RTP rate is 97.92%!

Mines BB Features

Mines BB does not differ from most of the instant-win games out there and comes with no special features or bonus minigames. You can use betting strategies or your intuition which more or less is considered a superpower. However, there are one or two technical features that will help you optimize your performance.

History & Autobet & Autoplay

The History tab is available in the toolbar above the active zone and can be used for extracting stats for advanced betting strategies. Mines BB is not a multiplayer game, so you can check your own results only.

Autobet excludes strategic play and allows players to ask the generator for a random move. You can enable it via the Cards icon on the left side of the green button. The system will choose a random position to reveal either a gem or a bomb. This is a risky option, and I do not recommend it.

Autoplay is available through a small white icon placed in the right side of the green button. It will open an advanced panel where you can set Loss Limit and Win Limit. Players can choose from 25, 50, 75, and 100 consecutive rounds and the exact positions that they want to be revealed. The gambling feature is available here as well.

Provably Fair

Many modern online gamblers consider the Provably Fair system the only 100% fair technology. An advanced algorithm determines every round, and it's fully transparent and fair. You can check each result by several simple steps:

• Find a SHA-256 hash generator (plenty are available for free online);
• Navigate to the game menu, select History, and Info tab;
• Copy the Result value and paste it into the SHA-256 hash generator;
• Compare the Hash codes from the generator and the game info;
• If they are identical, the round result was fair.

Most of us who are still trying to find mini games to have fun with probably feel nostalgic about the past. The Minesweeper theme will never die as long as providers invest time and effort in creating arcades like Mines BB. This one, in particular, strives to be as simple as in the late 90s but with a modern touch.

The grey shades with white and green elements go easy on the eyes and match the expected minesweeper-inspired gameplay. The graphics are of fine quality, and the audio effects are nice and relaxing without going anywhere close to lavish. Mines BB is, of course, 100% compatible with mobile devices (Android & iOS) and is easy to play via all browsers.

Our Verdict

Mines BB is another Provably Fair variant of the retro masterpiece that was once available on desktop PCs. At first glance, it doesn't differ much from high-rated alternatives like Minesweeper XY, released in 2022. It's designed in a simplistic way and offers 24 different levels of play and risk tiers.

However, the game by BGAMING has an advantage that most instant-win games in this category don't - a configurable grid. Similarly, Boxes Dare2Win by Hacksaw Gaming offers a configurable pyramid of boxes and similar features. I find these two titles to be the most successful in the genre, and Mines BB is much simpler.

Then again, the Barbara Bang challenge comes with a comparable RTP rate - 97.92%. Minesweeper XY and Boxes have 98.40% and 98%, respectively, but in their most generous variants. For last, I wish to mention that classic, minimalist designs are not the only option in this category. Patrick's Magic Field by Evoplay is an excellent example of how old vintage games can be mixed with popular slot themes.

Overall, Mines BB brings no innovation, in my opinion, but if you are a fan of these games, the title is a must. It is based on a Provably Fair system and offers useful technical tools. The payout rate and maximum win are among the highest in this field, although not the highest in the industry.
