It’s another installation in the adventures of Hacksaw Gaming’s raccoon Smokey, who this time dons a Stetson and ventures into the Wild West. If you’ve never heard of Smokey, you’re missing out. We’ve already seen his mischief in Le Bandit, watched him conquer Olympus in Le Zeus, impersonate Elvis Presley in Le King, and witnessed his shenanigans across ancient Egypt and Scandinavia through Le Pharaoh and Le Viking. And no, this one and the mentioned releases aren’t merely reskins – each one brings its own flavor and distinct personality.

Aside from the change of scenery, the Le Cowboy slot machine pushes the concept a bit further and reworks the central reveal mechanic. You no longer need rainbow symbols to collect cash coins – the system now feels way different, with shades of familiar features from titles like 2 Wild 2 Die. The bonus rounds have also been tuned, but we’ll get to that later in the features section of my Le Cowboy slot review.

At the end, every active Coin and Loot Bag value is added together and multiplied by your total bet, forming the final payout.

Once the last spin finishes, Smokey uses all stored bullets to shoot random positions on the grid, revealing Coins, Diamonds, Clovers, and Loot Bags. Additional FS symbols can extend the round by +2 or +4 spins, too.

You have the option to gamble for the next bonus tier, too. If you decide to do so, you’ll have eight possible outcomes. One leads to the Pistols at Dawn upgrade, while the rest award instant cash prizes ranging from 5x to 500x your bet.

Pistols at Dawn Hidden Epic Bonus

The final and most powerful feature, Pistols at Dawn, activates when 5 FS symbols land during the base game. It follows the same structure as Trail of Trickery but ramps everything up dramatically. The Bullet Collector here becomes progressive – starting with 5 bullets and activating on every free spin instead.

After each activation, the Bullet Collector resets to its previous value and continues accumulating with every subsequent win. Only Silver Coins and higher appear in this mode, which naturally pushes the payout potential higher. Unlike previous bonuses, though, scatter symbols no longer appear here.

The soundtrack fits the mood perfectly, too. I’ve always said that Hacksaw Gaming is a true master of sound design (and design in general), and every release of theirs has outstanding personality, while also at the same time that unmistakable, one-of-a-kind Hacksaw feel.

Final Thoughts

Le Cowboy feels like a natural evolution of Hacksaw’s Smokey saga – familiar, yet different at the same time. The Western theme fits him perfectly, and the updated reveal mechanic adds a layer of freshness without straying too far from what made the earlier so lovable among players.

It’s a perfect continuation of the series. It looks fantastic, sounds great, and plays with signature high rewards. Le Cowboy is a sharp reminder that Smokey’s adventures are far from over – and that’s most certainly a good thing.
