Golden Goose Megaways Review

Since the Megaways mechanic was first introduced in the Bonanza slot back in 2016, we’ve seen hundreds of games built on that engine, both original titles from Big Time Gaming and licensed slots from dozens of different developers. Despite numerous entries, the thing has hardly ever lost its relevance and up to date remains at the top of players’ favorites. BTG themselves continue capitalizing on the success and from time to time come up with new additions to the extensive Megaways slot family. This time, it’s the Golden Goose Megaways slot, with all the familiar elements at the core but also sporting a bunch of exciting extras on top as well as an insane winning potential.

Golden Goose Megaways draws inspiration from the classic Jack and the Beanstalk fairy tale, with the stage set high in the air, featuring familiar sights such as towering beanstalks that entwine the reels and a giant castle sitting up amidst the clouds. The vibrant, cartoonish graphics in tandem with the dynamic soundtrack perfectly capture the storybook atmosphere and immerse players deep into the action. Overall, kudos to the design team of BTG for the great work.

Golden Goose Megaways Slot - Base Game

As always, at our disposal is the 6-reel grid, with each strip capable of producing 2 to 7 symbols at random. The winning ways are dynamic, ranging from 64 at the lowest up to 117,649 at the highest. Symbols create combinations when at least 3 of the same kind land adjacent starting from the leftmost reel, except the top-paying harp, which needs only two. Each payout triggers the Reactions system, where participating symbols get removed, emptying room for new ones to tumble down from above. The process is theoretically unlimited and keeps going as long as wins are achieved.

The numbers behind the Golden Goose Megaways slot machine are what sets it apart from most games out there, namely the winning capabilities. In the base game, the max win is capped at 12,800x the stake, a figure decent on its own, yet as the free spins kick in, the amount rises drastically to an impressive 150,335x.

Obviously, it’s a highly volatile game, and don’t expect to get returns very often. Speaking of, there are two settings available - a lower 94% and a higher 96.44%, which is considered the default one.

Golden Goose Megaways Features

Aside from winning cascades and dynamic ways the Golden Goose Megaways online slot offers random instant rewards, a free spins round, a gamble, and a bonus buy. Here are all the details.

Cloud Prizes

You’ll instantly spot Cloud Prizes floating above reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 once you load in, and these are where most big wins come from. They start at 2x the bet, and whenever a Golden Egg symbol drops in view, the Cloud Prize on its reel is increased by the value shown on the egg, which can reach up to 500 times the selected stake. Keep in mind the progress is counted separately per bet.

On any spin or cascade, a Bonus Buy may randomly hop onto the top of the reels and award one of the Cloud Prizes. Plus, he may assign a multiplier of up to 10x to the collected prize at random. After being collected, Cloud Prizes reset to zero.

Free Spins

Landing 3 Scatter symbols in any position during the base game awards 10 free spins, and +5 more are awarded for each Scatter beyond the third. Likewise, the round can be extended. If 3 Scatters appear simultaneously on a free spin, players receive +5 spins, and +5 extra for each additional Scatter symbol.

Golden Goose Megaways Slot - Free Spins

Cloud Prizes from the base game are carried over to the bonus round and vice versa, though, this doesn’t apply when the feature is triggered through the buy feature. Free Spins bring Cloud Prize Multipliers to the mix - a value that starts at 1x and grows by +1 for each Bonus Boy appearance, no limits. This then applies to all Cloud Prize values. Additionally, during the free games, Bonus Boy can randomly collect up to all four prizes at a time.

Gamble & Buy Feature

When you score a win of 80x the bet and greater, a Win Exchange is offered, allowing you to trade that 80x for 10 free spins. When you get a payout of more than 25x but under 80x, a gamble is offered instead. You get one spin on the wheel for a chance to exchange the entire win for free spins. If you don’t succeed, however, the win will be lost.

Then, there’s a Bonus Buy, which operates in a much more simple way. Players can purchase 10 free spins directly from the base game, and this comes at a fixed cost of 80x the stake. Note, as mentioned above, Cloud Prize values are not carried over from the base game in that case. When buying the free games, the RTP grows a little to 96.47%.

Pros And Cons Of Golden Goose Megaways Slot

Our Verdict

To wrap this up, Golden Goose Megaways game is a great release. The developers at Big Time Gaming have done an excellent job with the outer look, capturing the essence of Jack and the Beanstalk and translating it perfectly to the reels. The visual execution is top-notch, really bringing the fairy tale vibes.

Then, when it comes to gameplay, it’s equally impressive. The base game is enjoyable and can pay out big on its own, but where things really gain momentum is during the free spins, unlocking the potential for crazy wins. And another big plus is that you can exchange your big wins from the base game for those lucrative free spins and get a chance to scoop a much bigger payout.

Overall, I found Golden Goose Megaways Big Time Gaming a fantastic addition to the Megaways collection. It’s gorgeous on the outside, fun on the inside, and capable of paying insanely big. It’s hard to ask for more.
