Fang City Review

Push Gaming, a top-notch slot provider, has been quite busy lately, and I have the honor to review its 3rd release for June. Fang City is a place “where the night is alive with mystery and fortune”, according to the provider. It’s also a futuristic game packed with popular mechanics, unique features, and a massive payout potential.

Fang City comes only days after the premiere of Henry The Ape and Regal Knights, two other solid slot titles with animals taking control. Mystery Moon Symbol

Mystery Moon Symbols can also land on any position and activate according to the already presented Moon Symbols rules. But besides cash values, they reveal bonus features as per the list below. Each one can be a massive boost, especially during the bonus minigame.

• Converter Symbol - each one selected a random Paying Symbol presented on the grid. It will then transform all of its instances into Moon Symbols with a chance for new Mystery Moon Symbols.
• Collector Symbol - collects all the Instant Prizes values in view and allows them to spin again and display new values or become Mystery Moon Symbols. If a new Collector Symbol is revealed, it’ll collect all cash values once again, including the prize of the initial Collector Symbol.

• High Value Moon Symbol - awards an Instant Prize of 10x the bet or more.

Free Spins Feature

Scatters activate the Free Spins bonus and award 8 rounds with a Total Multiplier displayed on the right side of the grid. Its starting values can be x1, x2, x5, or x10, depending on the number of scatters that have triggered the bonus - 3, 4, 5, or 6. The bonus multiplier is persistent, progressive, and unlimited. Scatters can add extra free spins - 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, for landing 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 scatters, respectively.

Whenever one or more Multiplier Symbols land with a win during Free Spins, their summed value will be added next to the win. Then, the Total Multiplier value will also be added, and the payout will be multiplied and paid. The new Total Multiplier value will be the sum of its old value and all Multiplier Symbols that have landed in that free spin.

Bonus Bet & Bonus Buy

Push Bet is one of the provider’s in-house features, and it increases the chance of landing scatters in the base game and triggering Free Spins. Fang City is an arena of the future, a place beyond time, drawn in the style of cyberpunk realities often powered by video games. The Wolf theme is modernized, but has little meaning for the slot script outside the aesthetics. Push Gaming continues to inhabit its game worlds with human-like animals, like apes and pandas, and now wolves.

The city in the backdrop is wonderfully depicted and shows a bright day during the base game and a lively night during the bonus. The graphics, soundtrack, animations, and audio effects are of the finest quality and perfectly balanced, as usual. Our Verdict

Fang City is another proof that there are some slot providers and there are other slot providers. Push Gaming may have a rather limited portfolio compared to other big names in the industry, but it has already achieved legendary status. At the base of it, is the magnificent attention to detail, creative thinking, and skills to create innovation.

There is little of the latter in Fang City, but an example of how an overused mechanic, such as Pay Anywhere with Multiplier Symbols, can be resurrected. The cascading and collapsing reels hide many surprises, like the Instant Prizes, we’ve already seen in many other Push slots. The Mystery Reveal feature is also common and fans have enjoyed it in mega-hits like the Razor Shark series, Mystery Museum and Dragon Hopper.

Fang City also offers strong mathematics with a payout rate reaching 96.33%, medium volatility, and a juicy max win of 10,000x. I also welcome the bonus bet and bonus buy features, as they can be pretty handy. Wolves are not too widespread across the studio’s slots, and so far we've only seen them in a handful of titles like Big Bam-Book and Bison Battle. The futuristic design, however, is brand-new.

During my test, the Fang City slot delivered results good enough to justify the effort.
