That’s the pretentious premise Hacksaw Gaming gives us, and the game backs it up visually. Dead by Noon looks totally sick. It has that harsh, sun-scorched Western atmosphere where everything feels so tense it's one wrong look away from turning into a bloody shootout.

We have a badass character standing on the left side of the screen, an outlaw pointing a pistol straight at the player, almost as if the viewer is on their knees begging for mercy. Dead by Noon is a rather interesting Hacksaw release. The grim Western presentation is outstanding and gameplay-wise, I really like the tandem of Row Cascades and the Multiplier Chamber system.

There’s serious potency to it, no doubt, but also some brutal variance. Multipliers that land far off to the right don’t give you anything unless every previous reel is activated as part of the chain. And man, even triggering the first two reels consecutively can be quite a challenge, not to mention connecting three or more chambers. But when the system does align, even a small combination can suddenly turn into a max win hit.

Regarding the max win chase, I like the high-roller spins mode. Obviously, it’s not for everyone – only a very specific group of daredevils will even consider touching it – but as a concept, it’s fun and fits the ruthless tone of the game perfectly.
