That can never be a bad thing, though Treasure Hunt is not the most polished game you’ll ever see. The theme of Treasure Hunt is all about pirates. That’s fine with us, but we have to say a bit more about the visuals. Now – the background is fully animated, with a pirate ship sailing across. The symbols, however, are rather lackluster, and don’t go well with the background at all. The contrast is all over the place, with the playing field standing out too much – and the symbol designs leave something to be desired as well.

There’s no official info on the game’s volatility, but we estimate it to be medium-high. There’s no given jackpot, either, and we can’t really guess about that. There are 10 pay symbols in Treasure Hunt and only the high pays are thematic. That’s what we tend to see pretty often, though, so it’s impossible to complain about this detail. The low pays are, as you’d expect, all about card ranks. Then, there are bells, treasure maps, pirate flags, compasses, and rings. Rings are the top-paying symbols and they pay 300 coins for a five-of-a-kind combination.

For special symbols, there are Skull Wilds, Pirate Boat Scatters, and Treasure Chest Scatters. Skull Wilds can appear anywhere on the reels and substitute for other symbols, while they also have their own payout values. The other two special symbols, meanwhile, are there to trigger the slot’s bonus features.

Treasure Hunt Slot – Free Spins Feature

Whenever you find a Pirate Boat Scatter on the reels, you’ll trigger the Surrounding Wilds feature. It will turn the symbol itself and all adjacent symbols into Wilds, increasing your winning chances in the process. By the way, this won’t block any Treasure Chest Scatters, so it won’t prevent you from activating the Free Spins feature.

For 3, 4, or 5 Treasure Chest Scatters, you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature with 10, 20, or 100 free spins, respectively. The reels are supposedly “richer” during free spins, whatever that means. Also, it is possible to get more free spins by finding extra Treasure Chest Scatters – the formula is the same as for the initial trigger. The maximum number of free spins that you can get in one go is 600.

Review Summary

The bottom line is that Treasure Hunt really is a mixed bag. The core gameplay is fine, there can be no doubts about that. You can win a lot of free spins and the Surrounding Wilds feature is a nice touch. On the flip side, the visuals of the game are so rough, especially if you also consider the outdated interface it all comes with. It’s all so clunky that you wouldn’t be able to guess that this is a 2022 release. With such a regular theme, there’s nothing that makes Treasure Hunt stand out in a positive way – and that is a problem in our book!
