Arcade-style and instant-win games have seen a huge spike in popularity recently, with more and more developers trying to capitalize on this trend. Panga Games is throwing their hat in the ring with the release of Plinko Cash, a somewhat experimental take on the more traditional Plinko concept. They have gone with a clean, minimalist sci-fi theme for this game, which plays out inside a metallic dome that looks like a futuristic spaceship or a space station of some kind.

The Plinko grid is filled with white pegs dotted against the dark, translucent backdrop, and you start by choosing your preferred bet level ranging from £0.20 to £200 per round. There are no turbo options or similar in this game, and the only thing you can choose is to turn on or off the sound effects and/or the music. Speaking of, the soundtrack is a bouncy synth-based tune that injects a healthy dose of energy into the gameplay, mimicking the bouncing ball in a funky way.

If you long-press the launch button, you open up the Autoplay menu. Here, you can choose to play between 10 and 1,000 rounds hands-free, but you can stop the Autoplay function between rounds. Unlike most Plinko games, you only get a single ball drop per round in Plinko Cash, so you better make it count. What’s more, you don’t win by landing the ball in a winning pocket at the bottom of the grid. This is where Plinko Cash differs from most similar games.

At the bottom of the grid you get 3 green pockets and 7 red pockets randomized per round, and you need to land your ball in a green pocket to win. However, the ball first needs to touch at least 1 of the 5 bet multipliers that are randomly scattered across the grid per round, ranging from 2x to 30x your stake. If it hits a green pocket without touching a multiplier, you win nothing. The advertised Plinko Cash max win is 60,000x your stake, and this game features a below-average RTP of 94.71% and medium volatility (3 out of 5).

At the start of each round, 5 bet multipliers are randomly placed across the Plinko board. These bet multipliers have values of 2x, 5x, 10x, 20x, and 30x your stake, and all bet multipliers the ball comes into contact with are added to your potential winnings. If the ball does not touch any bet multipliers on its way down the Plinko grid and lands in a green pocket, you win nothing. If it touches bet multipliers and lands in a red pocket, you win nothing. If it touches at least one bet multiplier and lands in a green pocket, you win the sum of all bet multipliers it touched.

Theme & Graphics

Plinko Cash plays out inside what looks like a UFO, or at least a sterile steel chamber in some kind of high-tech facility. The backdrop is dominated by cold, curved metallic walls, filled with vertical light bars that add to the sci-fi vibe of this game. The dark, translucent Plinko grid takes center stage, studded with pegs the ball bounces off of on its way down to the bottom pockets. The multipliers light up the otherwise monotone grid with their golden sheen, and at the very bottom, an industrial-looking conveyor of red and green landing pockets awaits to determine the final destiny of the ball and your round.

Our Verdict

Panga Games has clearly tried to do something different with the Plinko concept, but different does not always equal better. Kudos for trying something new, though, but unfortunately, Plinko Cash doesn’t deliver a very enjoyable gaming experience. I’m saying this as a Plinko fan who usually loves these games, but hard as I tried, I just couldn’t get myself to like this sterile, charmless, and mathematically disappointing variant.

Part of the almost hypnotic appeal of regular Plinko is watching an abundance of cascading balls bounce their way down the grid to find their way into bet multiplier pockets at the bottom. In Plinko Cash, you’re instead watching a single ball drop and navigate the grid all by itself, and it’s just less engaging and almost sad to watch. It’s like the lone ball is screaming for company and desperately trying to connect with the multipliers before meeting its demise in what will most likely be a red pocket.

In regular Plinko, even most of the losing pockets award a consolation prize below 1x, with the larger prizes found towards the extremities of the pocket row. In Plinko Cash, you can have a spectacular run through the pegs, hit all the bet multipliers on the way down, and still lose. Honestly, it feels like being robbed each time you hit a red pocket after hitting a multiplier. And, with only 3 green winning pockets versus 7 red losing pockets, chances feel slim before you even start. This frustrating core setup is my biggest issue with this game.

Another elephant in the room is the math model. Panga Games boldly states that the Plinko Cash max win is a staggering 60,000x your stake. However, the 5 bet multipliers the ball can touch each round add up to only 67x your stake, which, therefore, is the actual max win. Quite a disconnect, to say the least. Factor in the subpar 94.71% RTP, and Plinko Cash becomes a game it’s very hard to recommend to anyone. The best we can do is chalk it up as an experiment “gone wrong" and wish Panga Games better luck next time.
