Hi-Lo isn't just one game in the KingMidas catalogue. I started with Cards Hi Lo, which is probably the most familiar version. A card is already on the table and you decide whether the next one will be higher or lower. Get it right and you can carry on or take the win.

Thai Hi Lo is quite different despite the name. It uses three dice instead of cards and gives you several outcomes to bet on. Dota Hi-Lo takes that idea in another direction again, with enemies replacing the usual dice on screen. Of the three, this was the version that felt furthest removed from a traditional Hi-Lo game.

Dragon Tiger

Dragon Tiger keeps things much shorter. Two cards are dealt, one to the Dragon side and one to the Tiger, and the higher card wins. I found it easy to get into because there are no hands to build and very little to keep track of between rounds.

KingMidas has several bets around that basic result, so you aren't limited to choosing Dragon or Tiger. Dragon Tiger 2 also lets you bet on characteristics of the cards dealt, including their colour and suit.

Mahjong Games

Mahjong shows up in a different way here. Rather than recreating the traditional table game, some KingMidas slots use Mahjong tiles and imagery inside a slot format. Mahjong Beauty, for example, plays on a 5x4 grid and can expand from 243 to 2,000 ways to win.

Mahjong Dragon Ways also uses a 5x4 setup, but I found more going on during a win sequence. Symbols disappear after a win and new ones drop into place, giving another result without starting a new spin. Multipliers and Free Spins are part of the game as well.

Slots

The regular KingMidas slots are quite mixed once you move past the themes. London Mystery sticks to a familiar 5x3 layout with 25 paylines, while Gold Rush Bonanza uses a 6x5 grid and pays for matching symbols in groups. Other releases use ways to win, cascades or changing multipliers, so there isn't one setup that represents the whole collection.

I tried several of these games and the bonus rounds vary just as much. High Stake Heist uses Gold-Plated Symbols and an increasing multiplier, while Flame of Fortune adds a Multiplier Wheel and Hold & Spin feature. Bunny VIP Night goes up to 15,000x the bet, one of the larger maximum wins I found among the KingMidas slots we checked.

7 Up 7 Down is built around two dice and three straightforward choices. You can bet on the total being below seven, above seven or exactly seven. Once the dice are rolled, the round is over, so this is one of the KingMidas games where there isn't much to learn before you start.

There is also 7 Up 7 Down Rush. It keeps the same dice idea but adds a Lightning Bonus and moves to high volatility. I preferred having the two versions to compare, as the standard game stays fairly stripped back while Rush adds another feature without changing the basic premise.
