The first Max Megaways installment took you into the hollow mountain headquarters of the arch-villain Dr Fudge Indare, and Max Megaways 2 plays out on the surface of the moon. The lunar bases and biodomes in the backdrop are impressive to behold, and Earth can be seen in the distance as well. Big Time Gaming is following the same recipe that made the original game a success, but they have made changes to both the modifiers and the math model.

You still get 4 randomly triggered modifiers in the base game, as well as Reaction Wins, but the modifiers are somewhat different from what you get in the first installment. The bonus round plays out inside the lunar base, and you get to choose either 2 or 3 modifiers up front. You need to trigger the Enhanced feature to get 3 picks, and both bonus rounds come with a progressive win multiplier with no upper limit. Both the max win and the RTP has been increased, and the 147,620x potential is the highest of all Megaways installments to date.

The premium symbols pay between 0.5 and 5 x your stake for 6 of a kind wins, and the Wild symbol steps in for any pay symbol to help complete and/or improve wins. You win 10 free spins from 3 gold scatters in view, and +2 additional spins on top of that per additional triggering scatter. The Diamond Megascatter triggers the Enhanced Bonus Round if it partakes in the triggering event.

You get to select 2 doors up front, and this reveals modifiers you will benefit from during the feature. You get to choose 3 doors in the Enhanced version of the bonus round, and you get a progressive win multiplier that starts at x1 either way. The multiplier will boost all wins, and it never resets for as long as the bonus round lasts. Below is an overview of the possible modifiers you get from picking the doors:

• Multiplier Boost - starts the progressive win multiplier at x6 instead of x1.
• Symbol to Wild - replaces all instances of a chosen symbol with wild on reels 2 to 5.
• Double Multiplier - increments the win multiplier by +2 per reaction win instead of +1.

• Increased Ways - gives you a minimum of 5 positions per reel.

The Win Exchange and Bonus Buy features are available in some jurisdictions, but not in the UK for sure. Review Summary

The lunar base location makes for an impressive backdrop in this follow-up game, and you even get a small lunar vehicle moving around in the foreground. Other than that, Max Megaways 2 follows closely in the footsteps of the original game, but some changes have been made to both the base game and bonus round extras. It’s hard to tell whether or not these changes are for the better or for the worse, or perhaps neutral in that regard, but the math model changes are definitely positive.

The RTP has been increased a bit, clocking in at a respective 96.64 % (with no RTP ranges to worry about either), and the already solid potential has been bumped up to 147,620x your stake. We would really appreciate if Big Time Gaming would disclose the max win probability for future releases, as it’s hard to find any reports about the potential ever being cracked on any of their games. As always, the bonus buy price reveals what kind of returns you can expect on average, but overall Max Megaways 2 is a solid second installment in this secret agent trilogy.
