Our Verdict

I can start by saying that Ruby Play has made a somewhat strange design choice for this game. Nobody who sees a game like Elephant Stampede expects a classic-like slot experience. I expected roaring animal sounds and a vibrant tribal soundtrack, which is reasonable for a realistic-looking safari-themed game like this. However, instead, the game is completely silent between spins, and all you hear is the click as the reels spin and an 8-bit win melody if you hit something.

It will certainly evoke a bit of nostalgia, but it still feels incongruent with the rest of the presentation. The reels stop with a satisfying thud, though, and after a while, when you get used to the barebones soundscape, it grows on you to a certain degree. At least it did with me, and frankly, it wouldn’t be an issue if you expected it in the first place. Anyway, the base game does not offer much in terms of features, but you get wilds that often fill entire reels.

These are helpful in creating decent top-up wins here and there, while also triggering the jackpot pick bonus game when you least expect it.
