Egyptian Sun is a fairly standard entry into the overcrowded ancient Egypt genre, although the outdoor view with what looks like a manicured lawn is a tad unusual. The greenery offers a refreshing departure from the usual dusty tombs we have explored so many times, and it’s actually kind of neat that you don’t even get to see the pyramids in this presentation. The soundtrack is as “ancient Egypt” as it gets, which is to be expected with games like this.

The base game is a walk through the desert, to say the least, as it offers no features except wild symbols. The best thing to do is to set up the autoplay feature and lean back while waiting for at least 6 yellow sun symbols to wake you up from your slumber. When that happens, it’s time to pay attention again, and the hit rate is fairly standard, at least in my experience. Unfortunately, there are no stats disclosed to back this up, but I got the feature regularly in my test sessions.

As you understand, the heart of the experience lies entirely within the Repeat Riches bonus round. This hold and win feature is where you’re most likely to land larger payouts, but don’t get your hopes up too high either. The triggering yellow sun symbols are usually not worth all that much, although they can, in theory, reach as high as 50x your stake each. You’re lucky if you see double digits on either of them, though, at least in my experience. It’s unclear whether new yellow sun symbols can land during the feature, but they did not in the bonus rounds I got.

I mostly got purple and orange suns, with a few red ones sprinkled in for good measure, although the orange suns look very similar to the yellow suns. These collector suns do help a bit in terms of winnings, and you want the red suns to land late in the game. This way, you get them to collect far more value than if they appear too early. Filling the grid is, of course, the main aim, and the 500x jackpot takes you halfway to the win cap on its own. Speaking of, the 1,000x max win highlights the mediocrity of this experience, making Egyptian Sun a less than memorable one-trick pony riding into an early sunset.
