This is only the second release centered around dragons from this developer, but then again, Dragon Infinity Studios only has 10 games under their belt at the time of writing. They have all of “infinity” to churn out more games about their presumably favorite fable animal in other words, and Dragon Empires Golden Age takes you into a rugged medieval landscape with pointy mountains on the left-hand side, and a massive castle up to the right.

We can easily picture dragons flying through this landscape when the going gets rough, and they are apparently under the control of a female warrior. The base game comes with Dragon Power Stacks that can boost and/or collect Link & Win cash and bonus prizes, and there are 4 unique Dragon Power Stacks available in the Link&Win bonus round. The max win is 3,100x your stake, and Dragon Empires Golden Age is overall a decent mid-range fantasy game.

The premium symbols pay between 1.25 and 2.5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the female warrior Wild symbol pays 5x your stake for the same. The wild, of course, also steps in for all pay symbols to help complete and/or improve line wins.

The Link & Win Respins feature triggers from 6+ treasure chest Link & Win cash symbols in view. The triggering symbols become locked in place on an otherwise cleared grid, and you start with 3 respins. The tally resets for each new non-blank symbol you land, and in addition to regular cash prize symbols you can also land bonus prizes.

These are known as the Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand prizes, and they pay 10x, 25x, 50x, or 1,500x your stake, respectively. The feature goes on until you run out of respins, and that’s when your total winnings are summed up. Filling the grid with any kind of cash and/or bonus symbol awards the 1,500x Grand Prize.

Dragon Power Stacks symbols can appear in the Link & Win feature to help you out in 4 different ways, and they are stacked 3 positions in height. Here is an overview of what you can expect from each of the 4 dragons (and only 2 can land and become active at the same time):

• Fire Dragon (reel 1) - gives you 2 extra respin “lives”, which means that the tally resets to 5 instead of 3 for each new symbol that becomes sticky.
• Wind Dragon (reel 1) - collects all present symbol values, and this symbol can also do the same during base game play.
• Water Dragon (reel 5) - adds an extra 5th reel to the grid in the Link & Win feature.
• Earth Dragon (reel 5) - boosts all prize symbols in view, both in the Link & Win feature and in the base game.

Review Summary

The Link & Win feature has long since infested most Games Global partner studios, and Dragon Empires Golden Age is a decent first attempt with the feature from Infinity Dragon Studios. Visually, the game isn’t really all that engaging, however, although the dragon symbols are nicely done per se. The soundtrack is a half-hearted attempt at something epic, and it works to a certain degree, but overall this comes across as a mid-range game.

Its destiny will most likely be the swamp of mediocrity in other words, but we like that you can also boost and collect Link & Win cash prizes in the base game. It seldom amounts to all that much though, unless you land the Grand Prize symbol, of course. The Link & Win feature itself is decent enough as well, with some modifier action to keep you going. The medium volatility and the 3,100x potential cements this installment as what it is, however, and that is an unmemorable release that will very soon be forgotten.
