Cash Strike (Blueprint) Review

Cash Strike is the game that somewhat unexpectedly spawned a whole Blueprint series, and it boasts classic fruit machine visuals that will evoke nostalgia in any true slot gaming enthusiast. The game plays out on a 3x3 grid, making it a proper retro slot game of the old school kind. However, appearances can be deceiving, as they say, as Cash Strike has plenty of modern features under the hood, or at least more than your typical classic fruit slot.

Before we get to all that, let’s cover the basics. You start by choosing your preferred bet level between €0.10 to €50 per spin, catering to most types of players. You win by landing 3 matching symbols across up to 5 paylines, and the triple 7s are both the top-paying symbol and the game’s Wild symbol. As a paying symbol, it awards 50x your stake, followed by stars, bells, grapes, watermelons, oranges, plums, and lemons that pay between 30x and 1x your stake. As a Wild, the triple 7 substitutes for any pay symbol to help complete wins.

However, regular payline wins are not the only way to riches in Cash Strike, as you can also collect cash and cashpot symbols via the collect symbol. Up to 3 collect symbols can land on the same spin, collecting all cash and cashpot prizes in view. The cashpot prizes are on display above the reels, topping out at 1,000x for the Grand cashpot. Cash Strike boasts 3 different spin speed settings, as well as an autospins feature.

The main attraction is the Cash Strike bonus round, triggered organically via cash and collect symbols or via the random Gold Strike feature. Either way, the bonus round narrows the focus to cash and cashpot collection, with at least one collect symbol sticky on reel 2 from the start. Cash Collect Feature

The Cash Collect feature kicks in when you land a Cash Collect symbol on reel 2, together with Cash and/or Cashpot symbols on reels 1 and/or 3. The values from the cash and cashpot symbols are then collected by the Collect symbol, and the Cashpot values are 25x, 50x, 150x, and 1,000x your stake, respectively. These are on display above the grid as the Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand Cashpots.

Gold Strike Feature

All non-winning Cash, Cashpot, and Collect symbols are collected by the Strike Cash logo above the game grid. This can trigger the Gold Strike feature randomly, adding Cash, Cashpot, or Collect symbols to the reels. Whatever is needed to trigger the Cash Strike Bonus Round will be added to the reels.

Cash Strike Bonus Round

The Cash Strike Bonus Round triggers organically when you land at least one Cash Collect symbol on reel 2, as well as Cash and/or Cashpot symbols on both reels 1 and 3. All triggering Collect symbols become sticky for the duration of the bonus round, and you start with 3 free respins in the counter. Only blanks, cash, cashpot, and collect symbols will land as each reel spins independently, and any non-blank symbol that lands resets the respins tally to 3 each time.

If you land new Collect symbols (reel 2 only), these become sticky as well, and all present Collect symbols collect all cash and cashpot values each time they land. Cash and Cashpot symbols are removed after their values have been collected, and the feature goes on until you land 3 consecutive non-winning respins. Cashpot symbols have the same values as in the base game, topping out at 1,000x for the Grand prize.

The Cash Strike game delivers a fiery, retro slot experience, complete with a standard set of fruit symbols. The 3x3 grid is seemingly on fire, as the burning sun, hidden in the background, casts an orange glow over the whole scene. The reels are filled with glossy fruit symbols, including cherries, plums, oranges, and lemons, as well as classic icons such as bells, stars, and triple 7s. Blueprint's Cash Strike has evolved into a fully fledged and highly varied slot series, with the original game acting as the foundational title from which many diverse branches and innovations have sprung. Examples include the most recent installment, Cash Strike Hotstepper 2, as well as Cash Strike Hotstepper Megaways, both building on the core concepts found in this original Cash Strike. It’s impressive to see what has become of this little fruit slot seed, and we’re sure more will follow.

The main reason to prefer the original Cash Strike at this point is nostalgia and wanting to keep things simple. The aforementioned sequels are so packed with features that it takes a while to gain an overview and to understand what is even going on. In this simpler game, the core concepts of Cash Strike are allowed to shine on their own, which I found to be relaxing and enjoyable. Also, the pace of the game is excellent with the turbo maxed out, and not too instant, like in some of the sequels.

The base game offers decent to solid payouts, both from regular symbols and cash/jackpot symbols, and I managed to fill the screen with orange symbols during my test session. Cash Strike doesn’t pretend to be anything more than it is, a classic-looking fruit slot with modern features. It might not deliver life-changing payouts with its moderate 1,000x win cap, but the game never feels boring as you grind along to eventually trigger the bonus round.

I also like that no cash or collect symbols go to waste, as these are collected by the game logo to eventually trigger the bonus round. Combined with the organic trigger, this feature comes along regularly to boost your bankroll. Getting multiple collect symbols is obviously an advantage, but even a single collect symbol can rake in decent amounts. Of course, the 1,000x Grand cashpot is the main goal, and all in all, Cash Strike offers a light-hearted and fun fruit slot experience.
