Play Book of the Fallen Slot
Book of the Fallen is a volatile ancient Egypt ‘book mechanic’ slot from Pragmatic Play, and it plays out on 5x3 reels with 10 paylines. What makes it stand out however, is the fact that you get to freely choose your Special Expanding Symbol when the bonus round triggers. In addition, you have the Super Spin Ante Bet feature that allows you to pay extra for ‘book-style’ spins in the base game. Check our full review below, and test the demo game.

Book of the Fallen Review
John Hunter is back with another ancient Egypt ‘Book slot’ adventure, and Book of the Fallen is a highly interesting installment in the ever-popular ’Book mechanic genre. This is hardly due to the somewhat standard visual presentation however, although Book purists will probably be pleased with that too. What makes this release stand out is basically 2 things; the main thing being your ability to choose your own Expanding Symbol freely.
This is not something you see too much of out there, although being able to reject the randomly selected Expanding Symbol has been done before. It makes a big difference, as you can play it super volatile by always going for the Explorer, or mix it up with safer options. The other novelty is the Super Spin Ante Bet feature. Essentially, it allows you to pay extra for individual bonus round spins in the base game, instead of purchasing the whole feature (which is also possible for non-UK players).
Book of the Fallen Slot Features
The Book symbols serve double duty as both the Wild and the Scatter, as is usually the case. As a wild, the Book steps in for all regular pay symbols to help complete winning combinations. It also pays 2, 20 and 200 x your stake for 5-oak wins, while regular premiums award between 75 and 500 x your stake for the same.
You trigger the Bonus Round when 3+ book scatters land anywhere in view, and this awards 10 free spins. The book then opens up, and you get to pick and choose your preferred Special Expanding Symbol for the feature. The higher the value of the symbol, the more volatile your feature becomes, and the expanding symbols pay from any position just as long as you land enough instances of it.
The Super Spin Ante Bet feature makes this ‘book slot’ stick out even more, as it allows you to pay 10x your regular bet size to get nothing but ‘Book of’ mechanic spins. You get to choose your preferred Special Expanding Symbol when the Ante Bet is turned on, and you need to turn it off and on again to change the chosen symbol. Keep in mind that payouts are calculated using your regular bet size, and not the Ante Bet extra.
Non-UK players, and anyone living in eligible jurisdictions, can purchase the Bonus Round directly for 100x the total stake. This awards 10 free spins, and you get to choose your expanding symbol up front. Both the Ante Bet (96.49 %) and the Bonus Buy feature (96.48 %) slightly decreases the default 96.5 % RTP, but not in any significant way.
The 200 Spins Book of the Fallen Slot Experience
You get to see a bit of the base game grind, including a couple of smaller wins, before we trigger the Bonus Round at 0:50 into the 1:55-minute highlights video. We went with a mid-level premium symbol as the expanding symbol for the feature, and you can see for yourself how we fared by hitting the play button below.
While Pragmatic Play’s Book of the Fallen does nothing to revolutionize the ancient Egypt visuals that so many ‘Book slots’ come with, a quick glance under the hood should make any Book connoisseur interested. Being able to choose your own Special Expanding Symbol is a gamechanger, although it has been done before in Playson’s mostly forgotten Book of Gold: Symbol Choice.
We have a feeling Book of the Fallen will fare better than Playson’s effort though, not only due to a better visual presentation, but also because of the Super Spin Ante Bet feature. This allows you to try your luck with a chosen expanding symbol at any time, but we’re unsure how the UK Gambling Commission will view this recent Pragmatic innovation. The 1 in 2,118,644 max win chance is another reason to give this one attention, and Book of the Fallen should be highly interesting for all book fans out there.
- FS w/ free choice of Expanding Symbol
- Ante Bet Spin w/ Expanding Symbol choice

- Win up to 5,000x your stake
- Beware of adjustable RTP ranges
If you love Book of the Fallen Slot you should also try:
Book of Gold: Symbol Choice - is part of a Playson ‘book slot’ series, and this installment was released back in late 2019. The colorful visual presentation makes it stand out somewhat, but the setting is still ancient Egyptian tombs. You can choose your own special expanding symbol when the bonus round triggers also here, and the max win is 5,000x your stake.
John Hunter And The Book Of Tut - is a previous ‘book of’ mechanic installment from Pragmatic Play, and it too features their famous explorer as the top-tier symbol. This is a very standard book slot though, where you can win up to 5,000x your stake if the top-tier symbol is randomly chosen to expand in the bonus round.
Mysterious Egypt - is another somewhat unique ‘book slot’ from Pragmatic Play, and you get randomly chosen expanding symbols also in the base game here. The bonus round comes with 2 randomly chosen expanding symbols instead of the usual 1, and you can win up to 5,533x your stake.
