Our Verdict

While Super Elements does stand out a bit thanks to the elegantly executed cosmic theme, we’ve seen tons of Asian-themed mobile-first games with similar mechanics by now. The Gonzo multiplier seems to be the default core setup that so many of these developers return to or build different variants around, and in Super Elements, nothing essentially new or innovative is added to the mix. This feels like a wasted opportunity, although the experience wasn’t too shabby overall.

The presentation is sharp, featuring anime-inspired visuals that should appeal to a certain niche, not least in Asian countries. You could argue that the symbols are a bit too similar and focused only on the elements, with the main astronaut character appearing only on the scatter symbols. It would’ve been a better choice to allow the character to appear on the top symbol and perhaps include a partner or an animal to go along with him. Anyway, the scatter does at least provide some humanization of the otherwise uniform symbols.

The base game follows the well-known recipe with roots all the way back to the iconic Gonzo's Quest and the countless copycat releases that have followed in its wake since 2013 (man, time flies). The pace is satisfyingly fast with the turbo switched on, though, and you get plenty of encouraging action commentary. Perhaps a bit too much, at least for my taste, and it’s kind of hard to understand what is being said sometimes.

The golden winning symbols turning wild is hardly a new feature either, although you get to skip the usual silver symbol step in Super Elements. The red spreading wild is the most original contribution in this game, but hardly that original in the larger scheme of things. The bonus round ups the ante by doubling the multiplier range, which can deliver payouts of up to the rather underwhelming 2,000x win cap. Overall, Super Elements is worth trying if you love cosmic-themed slots, but there isn’t anything new to see here.
