I’ve played my fair share of electro-cosmic slots over the years, not least from more prominent developers like Wazdan. Voltage Blitz Rapid certainly seems inspired by the award-winning Polish developer, who started the whole sub-trend of slot games with no winnings in the base game. Granted, you can actually win pretty solid payouts in the base game here, thanks to the Voltage Blitz prize collection feature, but Wazdan has to be credited for this concept as well.

Anyway, as a standalone game, Voltage Blitz Rapid is not too shabby with its pleasant synth-based soundtrack and cosmic backdrop. In a way, it’s refreshing to avoid the whole base game line wins thing altogether, since it mostly delivers smaller top-up wins in most slots anyway. In this game, you’re laser-focused on collecting cash and jackpot prizes. And, with up to 3 collector symbols being possible, the max win is also within reach in the base game.

The Voltage Blitz Rapid slot game is not exactly oozing high production value, perhaps, but the design has a strange novelty and nostalgia to it. It kind of reminded me of something Systems In Blue could potentially use as cover art for their albums, and the soundtrack is not too far off their style either, albeit without the vocals. Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that I had a surprisingly good time testing this game, and the pace is decent as well, at least with the turbo switched on.

That being said, the constant coin donations to the Zodiac Vortex Surge pot by the prize symbols get a bit old rather quickly. It slows the base game down a bit too much for my taste, and Koala should’ve at least allowed players to click away that animation. Astrology, fate, and destiny hang over this game like an overarching theme, but I doubt massive success is written in the stars for the Voltage Blitz Rapid slot. It’s a decent enough effort in a popular niche genre carved out by Wazdan, but Koala Games should rather focus on blazing their own trail.
