Triple Train Express by Snowborn Games combines high-voltage cyberpunk aesthetics with classic rail transit, and it feels like a neon-infused ride into another dimension. The 3 trains are racing towards you above the grid, with the synth-based soundtrack adding to the futuristic atmosphere. Set against a backdrop of a translucent glass tunnel and brick architecture, this game balances retro arcade charm with modern, high-definition gloss.

Triple Train Express plays out on a 5x3 grid with 20 paylines. You win by landing 3 to 5 matching symbols across these paylines, starting from the leftmost reel. The paytable is populated with mostly classic slot symbols, including triple 7s, bells, BARs, dollar signs, and cherries. These premium symbols pay 2.6x to 10x your stake for 5 of a kind, while the lower-value royal symbols pay 0.5x to 1x your stake for the same. The Wild symbol substitutes for any pay symbol while also paying the same as the highest-value triple 7s symbol.

A golden bonus symbol can deliver 3 bonus rounds in a row, each with a different feature active. Hold & Win Bonus Round

You can land green, red, and blue train bonus symbols, and these are collected by the corresponding train above the reels. Each time at least one bonus symbol is collected, there is a chance you may trigger the Hold & Win Bonus Round. Each train represents a bonus round Cash Feature, and it’s possible to combine these in the same bonus round. If all 3 train bonus symbols trigger the bonus round, you get all 3 Cash Features activated during the bonus.

You get 3 bonus spins as the bonus round starts, and 3 cash and/or jackpot symbols are added randomly to the grid. Only blanks, activated bonus symbols, cash coins, and jackpot diamonds appear during the feature, and the spin counter resets to 3 each time you land at least one non-blank symbol. Cash and jackpot symbols are sticky, and cash symbols land with values ranging from 0.2x to 5x your stake. The Mini, Minor, and Major jackpot symbols land with values of 10x, 30x, or 300x your stake, respectively.

The bonus round may trigger with up to all 3 Cash Features active, and these work as follows:

• Cash Boost - adds a random value to the red train bonus symbol and increases it each time a new red train bonus symbol lands.
• Cash Multi - boosts 1 to 3 cash or jackpot symbols by x2, x3, or x5.
• Cash Collect - collects the value from all present cash and jackpot symbols.

The bonus round continues until you either land 3 consecutive blanks-only spins or you fill the grid with cash and/or jackpot symbols. If the latter happens, you unlock the 5,000x Grand Jackpot. This means your other winnings are forfeited, as 5,000x is the game’s win cap. Hot Cells can appear on the reel area during the bonus round, increasing your chances of landing a cash or jackpot symbol.

Golden Bonus & Express Feature

A golden bonus symbol can land in the base game, and this awards 3 bonus rounds played out one after the other. You start with the Cash Boost bonus round, then you get the Cash Multi bonus round, and finally the Cash Collect bonus round. Landing the golden bonus symbols during a bonus round reactivates up to 3 bonus symbols present on the grid. Theme & Graphics

Triple Train Express transports you into a futuristic, neon-drenched transit tunnel, with the green, red, and blue locomotives perpetually moving towards you above the reels. The tunnel itself seems to be made of glass, with brick walls outside the glass dome, giving the impression of hurtling through a high-speed digital corridor or portal into another dimension. The cash features represented by the 3 trains are prominently displayed above the reels, with a pile of cash behind the green, red, and blue signs. The synth-based soundtrack creates an otherworldly vibe, establishing an atmosphere that feels part retro arcade and part high-voltage cyberpunk adventure.

Pros and Cons of Triple Train Express

Our Verdict

Snowborn Games clearly set out to build an energetic, high-speed ride with Triple Train Express, packing the rails with a neon-soaked aesthetic and a trio of colorful locomotives. While the presentation is sharp enough, I don’t like when a game is not fully loaded before it starts. Getting “content loading” messages is not exactly a turn-on when you just want to play, and the train animation above the grid needed several of those before it finally got going. For the record, I loaded the game in 2 different browsers, and the same thing happened each time.

I’ve played far more content-heavy slot games on this exact setup many times with no issue, and preloading all the content is definitely the way to go for a pleasant user experience. Overall, the game felt sluggish in Google Chrome, even after all content was loaded, but that issue went away when I tried it in Microsoft Edge. Once everything is finally ready, the train animation above the reels is admittedly kind of cool, and I did like the way the trains jump closer when bonus symbols are collected.

That said, nothing much happens in the base game except bonus symbol collection, something that seems to be an overall trend in the 3-pot sub-genre. The symbol values are relatively low across the board, so don’t expect anything but occasional top-up wins while you’re grinding for the bonus round. The good news is that the main attraction seems to trigger quite frequently, at least in my experience. However, there are no stats to back up this notion since Snowborn has not disclosed the bonus hit rate.

Generally, I am not really a fan of the 3-pot concept, as I want full-blown bonus rounds each time, not half-baked “what if” experiences. The golden bonus round is a bit of an oddball, as my guess is that most players would rather want all 3 features combined than 3 bonus rounds in a row with a single feature. During the bonus, you need jackpot symbols, and preferably multiplier-boosted ones, to win anything significant. The coin values are too low to make a serious dent most of the time, and the most likely path to the 5,000x max win is the full-screen jackpot. Triple Train Express may be worthwhile if you love the 3-pot concept, but there are better alternatives.
