Soccer Striker 2 is a giant leap compared to the original game from Coin Machine Gaming, at least in the visual department. Despite being released in 2024, the first game features visuals reminiscent of a 90s computer game. Perhaps this was a calculated move to capitalize on the nostalgia, which admittedly kind of works, but it’s fair to claim that Soccer Striker 2 has caught up to present times regarding the game's presentation.

I don’t mind having a choice like that, actually, as sometimes you’re in the mood for some retro action while other times you want something that feels a bit more authentic and real. Of course, there is a limitation on how “real” a game like this can be, but Soccer Striker 2 is pretty much as close as it gets. The keeper is on his toes when the action starts, and unlike in the first game, you can actually shoot with precision in Soccer Striker 2.

This is an upgrade I really enjoyed, as it feels more like you’re the one outsmarting the goalie when you decide exactly where to place the ball. Random shots are okay sometimes too, don’t get me wrong, but I’m a sucker for those top-corner shots. If you aim up there, it feels more impressive when the keeper makes the save too, which takes the edge off the fact that you just lost the round. No worries, as you can always have another go at it.

The prize tower makes Soccer Striker 2 stand out from many similar games, and this visual element really amplifies your motivation to keep going. Sometimes a bit too much, actually, so it’s wise to decide on a cash-out strategy up front.
