Pray For Three is a twisted tale of repentance, and you’re introduced to two fallen angel sisters praying not for salvation, but instead to become the rulers of the underworld. Scary Mary and Morbid Madga are depicted as doll-like figures with hollowed-out eyes, creepy smiles, angel wings, and halos. Set against a monochrome backdrop, the reels are filled with morbid symbols like a blood-crying girl, snakes, crows, and tombstones. The piano-based soundtrack enhances the sinister vibe, categorizing this as a horror slot with religious undertones.

Pros and Cons of Pray For Three

Our Verdict

Pray For Three may be a follow-up to SixSixSix but that’s mostly because of the similar visuals and theme. In the feature department, Pray For Thee stands on its own two feet, although there are enough similarities to appease the fan base. I experienced this sequel as more understated, subtle, and feminine, compared to the more masculine in-your-face devilish energy of SixSixSix. The tone is more somber and the doll-like characters are more unsettling with their hollow eyes.

I think this is a wise decision by Hacksaw, as it allows players to choose between two different yet similar experiences. Personally, I would probably prefer SixSixSix most of the time, as I loved the energy and less-than-serious atmosphere of that game. However, I will probably return to Pray For Three once in a while too, when I’m in a more quiet and contemplative mood. Overall, I would say it’s a solid follow-up, but it’s not without its drawbacks.

For example, it’s annoying when you finally land the Prayer Hand symbol and it activates only one of the Wheel of Sin reels. The good news is that this symbol has a decent hit frequency also in the base game, although the more lucrative Divine Prayer Hand is more elusive. The cascading mechanic can be quite helpful at times, delivering even more Wheel of Sin action from additional Prayer hands.

It’s not the height of innovation, perhaps, but the Wheel of Sin has enough oomph to do serious damage, not least when all 3 reels are triggered. This, of course, happens more frequently in the bonus rounds. It’s a bit strange that you’re not allowed to purchased the top-tier bonus, though, and generally speaking, it would be nice if Hacksaw disclosed the bonus round hit rate for each tier in their games. ‘Pray For Three’ is a clever title, but the game itself is not quite up there with the best we’ve seen from this creative provider.
