MultiFly 2 Review
MultiFly 2, as the name implies, is a sequel to the original MultiFly slot, released back in 2020. That first game introduced Yggdrasil’s patented MultiMax engine, and since then, quite a few titles have been built around different iterations of the mechanic. Six years later, though, MultiFly 2 brings the studio back to where it all started.
The original MultiFly was kind of a breakthrough release for Yggdrasil. It was received well by thousands of players, and it still holds up well even by today's standards, and remains one of the most-played in the studio's portfolio. So, honestly, the sequel was inevitable, sooner or later.
The question is whether the six-year wait was worth it. The MultiFly 2 slot machine clearly has enough to grab onto for fans of the game. But familiarity alone can only take a sequel so far, so let’s see what Yggdrasil actually changed this time around.
Let’s start with the most obvious change – the design, which has been drastically revamped. The identity is still there, of course. We’re still somewhere deep in the jungle, and the central idea is still a chameleon snacking on flies. This time, however, there’s only one chameleon lurking in the leaves above the grid, instead of five separate specimens, each sitting above their own associated reel like in the first MultiFly.

The symbol set has changed as well. Reel representatives now consist exclusively of reptiles – no tropical birds in the mix this time. The MultiFly 2 online slot has lizards, turtles, snakes, and crocodiles taking over the reels.
The mood is also noticeably different. The first game was brighter, more colourful, and more cartoonish. MultiFly 2 goes for something less vibrant and jolly. They've gone for a more 'realistic' style here – the colors are deeper, darker, and everything looks more detailed, almost like Yggdrasil wanted the sequel to feel more mature.
As a whole, I think the design is superb. The graphics and animations are fantastic, and the game feels much more polished than its predecessor from a purely visual standpoint. It is way different, yes, but that’s not bad. MultiFly 2 has its own charm.
And, of course, Yggdrasil's UI has evolved too over the years. The old MultiFly interface looked very much like a desktop-era slot, with buttons and info blocks spread across the bottom of the screen. MultiFly 2 feels more modern and much more suitable for one-handed mobile play, with the main controls placed on the right side and a cleaner, semi-transparent overall layout.
Where the changes are less noticeable is the math model, which is honestly a little surprising. MultiFly 2 caps the max win at 10,310.6x the bet, meaning the ceiling is actually a little bit lower than in the original game. That’s an unusual decision, because a bigger number would have been the easiest way to justify a sequel after six years.
The RTP setup has changed too. MultiFly 2 is supplied in four different return rate configurations: 96%, 94%, 92%, and 90.5%. So, depending on the version available at a casino, the game may run noticeably lower than the original MultiFly. Volatility, however, remains on par with the first game. MultiFly 2 is still a high-volatility slot, which makes sense given how the MultiMax mechanic behaves.
MultiFly 2 Slot Features & Bonuses
In terms of gameplay, MultiFly 2 very much returns to form and essentially recaptures the original experience. We still have the MultiMax engine at the centre of everything, with reel multipliers growing through winning combos and flies being eaten by the chameleon. So, if you played the first MultiFly, this one will feel familiar immediately. However, if you pay closer attention, there is one major change, and I’d call it detrimental.
Dropdown Feature
The 2nd MultiFly game uses the same Dropdown win system. Whenever a winning combination lands, the winning symbols disappear from the reels, and new symbols drop down to fill the empty positions.
The important part is what happens after every cascade. Before the reels refill, the game adds a Wild symbol to one of the empty positions. Wild symbols then feed into the MultiMax system.
Wild And Reel Multipliers
Wilds are represented by some kind of plant. They substitute for all regular symbols, but their main job is to give out reel multipliers. Whenever a Wild appears, the chameleon sitting on top of the grid sticks out its tongue and collects flies. Each collected insect raises the multiplier on that reel by +1, +2, or +3 at random.
The interesting thing is how those multipliers operate. They apply to any win that includes at least one symbol on that reel. In other words, 3-of-a-kind wins involve three leftmost multipliers, and full five-symbol wins make use of all five reel multipliers.
Here’s the important part I noted out before as a big change in MultiFly 2, or should I say downgrade. Reel multipliers are added together rather than multiplied. So, for example, if one reel has x2 and another has x4, the win receives a total x6 multiplier. In the original MultiFly game, that would produce an x8 result.
In the base game, reel multipliers reset once the spin ends. As soon as the cascading chain dies, the grid goes back to its initial state and you have to start building again from scratch. MultiFly 2 free spins round addresses that moment, which is covered next.
Free Spins

First, let’s cover the Scatter symbols, because MultiFly 2 changes how they behave, and I actually really like this little innovation. Scatters still trigger the bonus in the usual way, with 3, 4, or 5 symbols awarding 5, 10, or 15 spins, respectively. The same numbers apply to retriggers during the bonus.
The interesting part is that Scatters now come with instant payouts. Each Scatter pays according to the current multiplier value of the reel it lands on. By default, that means 1x the bet. But if a reel has already been charged up to, let’s say, x20, then the Scatter landing there awards 20x. That’s a clever system, and for some reason, not even mentioned in the game's rules.
Once the free spins round begins, the reel multipliers are powered up. In here, values do not reset between spins. They build up for as long as the feature lasts.
Bonus Buy
And, of course, this is a modern slot, so it would be strange if Yggdrasil didn’t stuff it with a few bonus buy options. MultiFly 2 lets you purchase direct access to Free Spins, with both regular and paywalled upgraded versions available.
- 5 Free Spins – cost 40x bet. Starts the regular Free Spins round with 5 spins.
- 10 Free Spins – cost 70x bet. Starts the regular Free Spins round with 10 spins.
- 15 Free Spins – cost 125x bet. Starts the regular Free Spins round with 15 spins.
- 5 Upgrade Free Spins – cost 60x bet. Starts 5 Free Spins with one guaranteed Wild per spin and increased reel multiplier boosts of x2, x3, and x5.
- 10 Upgrade Free Spins – cost 100x bet. Starts 10 Free Spins with one guaranteed Wild per spin and increased reel multiplier boosts of x2, x3, and x5.
- 15 Upgrade Free Spins – cost 180x bet. Starts 15 Free Spins with one guaranteed Wild per spin and increased reel multiplier boosts of x2, x3, and x5.
MultiFly 2 Free Play
The MultiFly 2 demo is worth trying even if you played the original game before due to significant changes in gameplay and visuals. A few free-of-charge spins should make it clear whether this follow-up deserves your attention, or whether you’d rather stick with the 2020 original. For newcomers, free play is even more useful. It is the best way to figure out the MultiMax system and see how the game behaves without betting a single penny.

Final Thoughts
So, was the wait worth it? Is MultiFly 2 really a next-gen sequel justified by six years in the making? Honestly, that depends largely on how much you like the new visual style. From a presentation standpoint, I think Yggdrasil did a superb job. The game looks better than ever, though that’s again up to your personal preference.
Gameplay-wise, though, things are more complicated. There are a few changes, and the Scatter payout system is probably my favourite one. Having Scatters pay according to the current reel multiplier is a smart touch, and it adds extra value to building those reels. That part feels like a good sequel idea. However, it’s not enough, not even close.
But then we get to the big downgrade – the multipliers. Yes, they can scale faster now, but they no longer multiply one another. They are simply added together, and that makes a huge difference compared to the original MultiFly. That change is hard to ignore.
And, of course, we got the most needed and long-awaited sequel feature – a whole pile of bonus buys. Kidding, obviously. But it does feel very contemporary, indeed: regular bonus buys, upgraded bonus buys, paywalled stronger free spins, the whole package. How else would they make money? From base spins? Nuh, that’s clearly not the plan.
Lastly, the numbers. I wouldn’t call the math bad, but a 200x lower max win than the 2020 original is a questionable decision, to say the least. There are enough things to question about MultiFly 2, but that might be my biggest nitpick. Had it twice the bigger potential, I wouldn’t even mind the additive multipliers.
All said and done, for newcomers, this can still be a great slot with a strong mechanic and excellent visuals. For returning players, it offers a familiar MultiFly experience in a new shiny wrapping, and with a few changes that won’t necessarily feel like upgrades.
