Shady Lady is giving Nolimit City a run for their money with this release, and it’s not the first time either. Personally, I welcome providers like this with open arms, as there is plenty of room for two (or even more) slot developers that do not shy away from controversy and sensitive subject matters. Mortal Bromance is peak satirical social commentary in slot format, and you can’t really ask for a better execution than the “sucker punch” they have delivered here.

It may be an uncompromising “love it or hate it” release, but I do believe most people, at least those with an ounce of humor, will enjoy the heck out of this thing. If you hate Trump, you get to enjoy seeing him getting his ass kicked, and vice versa if you’re a MAGA fan.

Mortal Bromance is obviously not meant to be taken too seriously, although the math model underneath it all is no joke. The base game could perhaps have been spiced up with a few more features. However, the instant character prizes can deliver explosive wins thanks to the towel reveal multiplier that always keeps you on edge as they flash their stuff. While the concept of instant prize wins is hardly a new innovation, Shady Lady clearly demonstrates that an unusual twist on the execution of features goes a long way in making them feel original.

The same goes for the bonus round, at least to a certain degree. Duels determining the multiplier have been seen before, not least in various Hacksaw titles, but not quite like this. You find yourself rooting for the champ so you can hopefully benefit from the Finish Him multiplier boost, and it’s a highly engaging feature that’s brilliantly implemented into the gameplay. All the different bonus buy options are a bit confusing, though, and more stats and info on these would’ve been appreciated. Mortal Bromance takes an unapologetic swing at modern culture while delivering genuine innovation and high-octane gameplay, serving as a powerful testament to the creative momentum Shady Lady has been building.
