From the original Maya Golden City released in 2023 to Maya Golden City 5 released in 2024, Maya Golden City 6 from YGR once again takes you on a temple expedition deep in the Mesoamerican jungle. As usual, there is no bonus round to look forward to, as this series is all about different kinds of multiplier action. That being said, there is a climactic feature that’s teased in different ways throughout the gameplay, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

You start by choosing your preferred bet level, ranging from €0.20 to €50 per spin in the Maya Golden City 6 slot. Maya Golden City 6 is yet another installment in YGR’s long-winded temple-themed series, laser-focused on fast-paced multiplier action as usual. It’s been an interesting series to follow, with new releases coming rapidly since the original release in 2023. A lot has happened since that rather simple, low-risk-reward title, and the math model of Maya Golden City 6 can hardly compare. That is as it should be, ensuring that different players can choose what they prefer from the buffet this series has become.

Visually, Maya Golden City 6 comes across as bright and polished, and the game grid neatly blends into the temple backdrop almost like it’s part of the temple. The totem animal symbols add a dash of sorely needed color that contrasts well with the golden yellow temple stones, while the giant tree is a breath of fresh air with its lush green branches. The tribal soundtrack is pleasant as well, and overall, the presentation is solid.

A lot hangs on whether or not you can stomach a game with no real bonus round to look forward to. This is a hallmark of this series, but at least the base game in Maya Golden City 6 is never boring. The pace is excellent with the turbo switched on, and you get multipliers to boost almost every win. Sure, it can be a tad annoying when the x1 multiplier shows up on both bonus reels, but in my experience, that didn’t happen all that often.

The Adjacent Wilds feature is a clever touch, giving you a teaser of the main attraction. The Double Wild feature can be a bit hard to trigger without the Ultra Boost ante bet feature turned on, though, and it would’ve been interesting to see the difference in hit rate. Granted, even when you hit this feature, you get a pair of x2 multipliers more often than not, but it still delivers a decent win most of the time. All in all, Maya Golden City 6 is a fun game to play for a while, but I prefer slots with a proper bonus round to keep up the engagement.
