This is the first installment in what has since become a ‘Grace’ trilogy, thanks to the follow-up titles Rabbit's Grace and Tiger's Grace. The cute dragon character is perched above the 3x3 grid, and you can expect plenty of action commentary from this charming mascot.

You start by choosing your bet level between €0.4 and €250 per spin, catering to most types of players. You win by landing matching symbols across up to 5 paylines, starting from the leftmost reel. The symbols, which include gold ingots, money bags, red envelopes, coins, lanterns, and fireworks, award between 0.4x and 20x your stake for 3 of a kind wins. There are no royal symbols in this game, but the Dragon Wild symbol substitutes for any pay symbol to help complete wins. It also pays 40x your stake for 3 on a payline.

Prize symbols appear as golden plates with a number indicating their prize value, ranging from 0.5x to 500x your stake. You need to land at least 3 prize symbols anywhere in view on the same spin for the prize values to be collected as a win. The prize values are then summed up and paid in addition to any regular line wins.

Cornucopia Bonus Feature

The Cornucopia Bonus Feature triggers at random times when you play, and it’s a classic jackpot pick game. Each pick reveals either the Mini, Minor, or Major jackpot symbol, and the prize is awarded once you have revealed 3 matching jackpot symbols. The Mini Jackpot pays 10x your stake, while the Minor Jackpot awards 50x your stake.

The Major Jackpot is progressively increasing as you and other players contribute to it by playing. However, you do not win the full jackpot on display above the reels. Instead, the Major Jackpot prize is calculated as follows: Your current bet divided by the max bet multiplied by 20% of the full jackpot amount. For example, if your current bet is €2 and the Major Jackpot is €2.8 million, the amount you win is: (2/250) x (2,800,000 x 0.2) = €4,480.

Fortune Dragon Feature

The Fortune Dragon feature is also randomly triggered, and it’s a hold and win type of bonus round where you start with 3 free respins. The grid size increases to 5x4 during this feature, and 6 to 10 prize symbols are added to random positions before the bonus starts. During the Fortune Dragon Bonus Round, only Collection symbols and/or blanks appear on each spin.

Each Collection symbol that lands collects all prize and jackpot symbols in view, and this resets the spin counter to 3 each time. The Collection symbol then turns into a random prize or jackpot symbol, becoming sticky on the grid. Only Mini and Major jackpot symbols will land during this feature, but filling all 20 positions with sticky prize or jackpot symbols before you run out of respins awards the Major jackpot.

The Dragon's Grace game unfolds at the entrance to a traditional Asian temple, characterized by classic Chinese architecture. The horned dragon character atop the grid appears friendly enough, holding a glowing orb and a money bag, with blinking eyes curiously following any developments on the reels. He’s a talkative little fellow, too, providing action commentary and performing his little dance whenever you land a larger payout. The soundtrack is a lively take on classic Chinese music, adding to the upbeat and festive atmosphere.

Pros and Cons of Dragon's Grace

Our Verdict

Dragon's Grace began what is now a trilogy by 759 Gaming, and we expect the 'Grace' series to continue to expand with more titles. The charming mix of traditional Chinese culture with modern elements, as well as the adorable dragon mascot, adds up to an enjoyable experience, at least if you’re into Asian-themed games. The mobile-first design will also appeal to the younger crowd these games are typically aimed at, and I can reveal that this is my favorite installment in the series thus far.

The pace and flow of the game are in the sweet spot territory with the turbo switched on, and you can expect small to medium wins regularly in the base game. It’s a tad annoying that you cannot play with rounded bet levels like €1 per spin, but that might not be a major issue for most players. The colorful presentation, lively soundtrack, and charming action commentary go well together with the fast-paced action, although it can be hard to understand what the dragon says at times (unless you speak Chinese, that is).

Anyway, needing only 3 prize symbols in view to trigger the collection feature is a relief, and with prizes of up to 500x your stake up for grabs, this can lead to solid base game wins. The big win screen lingers a few seconds more than needed in this game, and you cannot click it away either. This became a bit annoying after a while, making larger wins less enjoyable. A small nuisance, perhaps, but small things matter when they repeat over time.

The Fortune Dragon feature expands the grid to 5x4, which is good, but the prize collection mechanic becomes tedious rather quickly. It takes forever to collect the prizes each time a collector symbol lands, and again, you cannot click away the animation. For me, the highlight of Dragon's Grace slot is the jackpot pick game. However, it’s a bit disappointing when you realize you cannot win the full Major jackpot. While the 97.1 % RTP and 10,000x potential are decent compensations, Dragon's Grace is not without its drawbacks.
