NexGen is a relatively new game developer, and their limited portfolio seems to indicate that they are mainly focused on instant win-type games. They have tried their hand in multiple different genres already, and Digger Jackpot is their first stab at the popular mining trope. The game features charmingly simple visuals, along with an equally endearing 8-bit soundtrack, so the game at least made a decent first impression on this game reviewer.

I’m going to be honest and say that I much prefer video slots over crash games and other instant-win wonders, but Digger Jackpot is far from the worst I’ve tried in this growing genre. It’s highly important to familiarize yourself with the difficulty levels and find one that fits your playing style and risk tolerance. Otherwise, you may be discouraged before you even get properly settled into the groove of this mining adventure.

For me, that’s the overall problem with all crash games. I get tired of going bust all the time, knowing that the chances of reaching a significant payout are slim to none. In most video slots, you at least have the opportunity to win big on any given spin, and you never know what the next spin will bring. That’s the magic that’s “lost in translation” with crash games like Digger Jackpot. You always know what the next potential win is, and it’s usually not very high.

To their credit, NexGen has tried to mitigate this issue by introducing the random Shatter King jackpot. In my view, this is a very good idea. However, at the time of writing, there is not enough info on this jackpot feature to truly know. That being said, the opportunity to win big at any time is exactly what the crash genre needs, so let’s see how this plays out. On a final note, the 3,141,278.36x max win is certainly impressive, but I only wish NexGen would be more transparent about the winning chances of each step.
