The independent Down-Under developer, GamesLab, has released Royal Dragon Infinity Reels on Yggdrasil’s Masters Program. It’s the first asian-themed game featuring the licenced and trademarked infinity reels mechanic from ReelPlay. Experienced westerners will hardly find anything new to see here though, except for the occasional Frenzy Spin multiplier boost.

The 5-tier Multiplier Increment Bonus Round is a carbon copy of what’s on offer in Giza Infinity Reels, and the whole thing comes across as a recycled, watered-down effort aimed primarily for the asian market. The stats will not impress any experienced western players, as literally all other Infinity slots out there offer far better conditions.

The golden dragon is the wild symbol, and it will step in for all regular pay symbols like wilds usually do. Each winning combo adds a new reel, and this also increases the progressive win multiplier by +1. There is no upper limit as to how high the multiplier can climb, and it will boost your total win at the end of a sequence.

Frenzy Spins can be triggered at random times, and this gives you a random multiplier of 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x. This multiplier will be combined with any regular win multiplier you’ve racked up, and it can lead to some decent base game payouts out of the blue.

We get that Royal Dragon Infinity Reels is aimed primarily at the asian market, but we’re still gonna judge it via the lense of our experienced western mindset. Yggdrasil partner, GamesLab, brings nothing new to the table here, as both the engine and the core features are lifted directly from ReelPlay’s Giza Infinity Reels. The Frenzy Spins adds a bit of excitement to the base game though, but it’s hardly enough to save this one from the memory hole.

The biggest drawback is the watered down math model and the pretty generic and boring oriental theme. The max win is only 2,652x your stake, but you can gamble it all the way up to around 10,000x with maximum luck. Players familiar with the Infinity engine will hardly be impressed, and there are plenty of better alternatives out there (at least in the west).
