Money Train 2 Review
Relax Gaming has done most everything right with this sequel to their original hit game, and we believe fans will appreciate the effort and improvements. The steampunk theme adds a new dimension to the concept, and the visual presentation and characters are as cool as ever. The biggest drawback of the first game was the highly volatile base game grind, but this time you will benefit from a clever respin feature that helps keep you motivated towards the bonus round climax.
Money Train 2 plays out in a dusty, old desert town, and you will play with 5 reels, 4 rows and 40 ways to win, just like in the original game. Everything has been amplified and boosted in this sequel, and this very much includes the potential. The game is even more volatile than the first one was, but you can win up to 50,000x your stake here, which is a solid leap from an already good potential in the original game. The RTP has been increased a tad also, and you will still benefit from a lucrative 98 % RTP if you buy the bonus round (not available for UK players).
Speaking of, the bonus round comes with a lot more special symbol modifiers here, and you can also increase the setup with 2 extra reels. Triggering the bonus round can take a long time however, and you are going to need a bit of patience to appreciate this one. We had our ass handed to us in our 200 spins test session, but got some of our losses back when we bought the bonus round. You can read all about that further down in the review, but first we’ll cover all the exciting features Money Train 2 slot has to offer.
What are the bonus features?
The features are similar to the first game in the series, but everything has been sort of blown out of proportions (in a good way, that is). You also have a brand new feature in the base game, and this means that it’s less of a grind than it was in the original game.
It’s basically a Respins feature that’s triggered whenever you land only 2 scatters on the same base game spin. Each scatter will reveal a multiplier that will be summed up, and you are then granted respins that will go on until you land a winning combo. Every non-winning spin increases the multiplier by +1, which is a clever way of making losing spins into winners. When you actually land a winning combo, the multiplier you’ve racked up is applied.
Free spins in Money Train 2
The Money Cart Free Spins feature is triggered when you land at least 3 scatters on the same spin. The regular train cart takes off, and a new wagon rolls in to replace it. The sun sets, and a giant moon can be seen in the background before the new set of reels arrive.
The triggering scatter symbols become sticky, and their respective multiplier values are added to the total. You will only land multiplier symbols, with or without extra features, during the bonus round, or you will land blanks. All symbols you land become sticky. You will start with 3 free spins, but the tally is reset whenever you land at least one multiplier/special symbol.
The feature will go on as long as you don’t run out of spins, and you can land plenty of special symbols to help you here. All symbols that land will reveal a multiplier that’s added to the total, but some of them also come with other benefits. Here is a complete list of what you can look forward to:
- Bonus symbol – adds between 1x and 10x to the global multiplier.
- Golden bonus symbol – adds between 20x and 200x to the global multiplier.
- Payer – adds its multiplier value to all other symbols on the reels
- Collector – adds all visible values to its own.
- Collector/Payer – will first add the sum of all the other multipliers to its own, and then add the updated value to all the other symbols.
- Sniper – doubles the multiplier on 3 to 8 random bonus symbols, and it can do this more than once on the same symbol.
- Necromancer – breathes new life into 1 to 6 spent symbols (i.e. the prayer, collector, collector/prayer or sniper symbols).
- Reset Plus – updates the starting spins by +1 (3 becomes 4, and so forth).
- Persistent Payer – adds its multiplier value to all symbols on all following spins.
- Persistent Sniper – doubles the value of 3 to 8 symbols on all following spins.
- Persistent Collector – adds all other values to its own on all following spins.
As you understand, there is a lot to look forward to here, and it can take a while before you get familiar with all the symbols and their respective features. The takeaway from this should be that all symbols add to the global multiplier, while some symbols also have the potential to increase said multiplier in a significant way.
What’s more, whenever you fill a reel with symbols, the grid is expanded by a brand new reel. You can do this only 2 times however, but it still adds 8 more symbols positions to fill with goodies. You can also buy the Money Cart bonus round (not applicable for UK players), and this will cost you 100x your stake.
How to play
The game interface is a bit different from the original game, and everything you need is found below the reels this time. We will take a closer look at everything you should know up front to play Money Train 2 slot here. Experienced players might wanna skim through this part, or skip to the next section.
The skull with exhaust pipes is the wild symbol in this game, and it can step in for all regular symbols to help you form winning combos. It also pays as much as the highest paying Necromancer symbol, which is 20x your stake for 5 on a payline. If you scroll further down you can read all about the bonus features, and the illustrations might help clarify things for you also.
You can then set your bet level between 20p and £20, and this is done via the plus and minus symbols below the reels. You can also toggle on/off the game sound via the speaker icon, and turn on the fast play option via the double arrow icon on the left-hand side of the spin button. Finally, you can set up the autoplay feature with between 10 and 1,000 autospins, and even never-ending spins is possible to choose here.

The 200 Spins Money Train 2 Experience
We quite enjoyed the first game in this series, and we were literally itching in the trigger finger to get started with this amplified follow-up game. The massive potential of 50,000x is an ever-present possibility here, and we looked forward to seeing how far we could take it with our joyride on the Money Train 2 express.
We decided to go with the max bet of £20 per spin, and braced ourselves for a bumpy and volatile ride. As we thought, the base game is quite a brutal affair, and you will see plenty of dead spins with a few smaller wins sprinkled in here and there. This is how it went for us at least, but who knows what kind of beginner’s luck you will be able to manifest.
We kept grinding along in the base game for a while, and the bonus buy button just kept looking more and more juicy. We finally caved, and paid the 100x necessary to get the Money Cart Bonus Round. One of the scatters turned into a 10x multiplier, so we were off to a pretty good start.
Pretty soon we landed the Reset +1 symbol, so now we had 4 spins to fall back on for the duration of the feature. The multiplier symbols kept coming pretty fast, and soon we had expanded the reel set with the maximum of 2 extra reels. A sniper landed and doubled up a few of the multiplier values, and we also landed a payer symbol that boosted us up even more.
We then ran out of spins all of a sudden, and the multiplier was now racked up to 110x our stake. A decent enough win, but nothing extraordinary and far from the massive sums this game is capable of dishing out. Still, we quite enjoyed the ride, and we will definitely be back for more steampunk action.
Money Train 2 basically takes everything that was good about the first game, and amplifies it significantly. It’s almost like the original game has been given the Megaways treatment, although that is not really the case. However, saying that Money Train 2 is the first game on steroids is a fitting description indeed, and also the visuals have been revamped with nice animations to boot.
The original game was already a volatile beast with a 20,000x potential, but this sequel is even more hardcore. With wins up to 50,000x your stake possible, you’re in for a very volatile ride on this runaway steampunk train. The base game grind is somewhat regularly broken up by the new respins multiplier feature, and we like how this actually turns things upside-down and makes you root for dead spins. The bonus round has the potential of going nuts with all the extras, and this unpredictability is what makes players come back for more.
- Respins with progressive multiplier
- Free spins with 11 special symbols
- High volatility and 50,000x max win potential
- Bonus buy increases the RTP to 98 %
- The max bet has been lowered so that the max £ payout equals the first game

There are 87 in our catalog at the time of writing, so feel free to knock yourself out. Below, we will present you with some handpicked games we think you’ll probably like if Money Train 2 is a game you enjoyed.
Money Train - is the first game in the series, and it’s really a must try if you liked the sequel. The spaghetti western tune is quite catchy, and the ride is almost as volatile as the game at hand. However, the base game is even more of a grind here, as there are no features to break it up. You can win up to 20,000x your stake, which is solid, and the bonus round is a lot of fun here too.
Sticky Bandits - takes the wild west concept to a new level with massive wilds that can land on reels 2 to 4. These wilds cover 2 reels and are 5 symbols in height. They depict a male or a female masked bandit, and you will also benefit from a free spins feature with sticky wilds. This is a Quickspin creation it’s well worth checking out if you enjoy loads of wild action.
Bonus Train Bandits - has a reel setup below a bridge, and a train will roll in with different bonus features for you. There is one cart for all of the 5 reels, and you can also get 100x instant wins from the carts. The train robbers can also fire wilds onto the reels, and the big highlight is the bonus round when the train carries multipliers and losing spins don’t reduce your free spins tally.
