When we first laid eyes on Dragon's Cache from SpinPlay, childhood memories of wanting to swim in a pool full of coins came nostalgically to the surface. The backdrop is obviously the treasure guarded by the dragon, but you could easily mistake it for Scrooge McDuck’s money bin. Anyway, this is a medieval fantasy release with decent cartoonish visuals, featuring dragons and knights in shining armors.

The base game is mostly a grind, but stacks of wilds can help keep you afloat as you collect 3 different dragon chest tokens. These can trigger bonus rounds with different upgrade extras at any given time, and you get all 3 upgrade extras combined if the feature triggers with 2+ tokens. This is how you’re most likely to crack the 5,000x potential, but you can win that big in single token features as well (not least in the jackpot bonus round).

The premium symbols pay between 2 and 5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins, and the dragon eye Wild pays 10x your stake for the same. The Wild can appear anywhere, and it steps in for regular pay symbols to help complete wins. The wild comes in 1x4-sized stacks, but it will not always land fully in view.

The Dragon’s Chest Bonus Round can trigger any time you collect at least 1 chest token, and these are collected in 1 of the 3 corresponding treasure chests above the grid (green, red and purple). You get 5 free spins from a single Green Chest token (if the feature triggers), and the regular number of win ways doubles to 40. This is done by adding 2 extra positions to each reel, and any wild in view will nudge fully in place so the whole reel becomes wild.

The Red Chest token awards 10 free spins if the feature triggers, and you can land special gold dragon coins during this feature. These reveal letters that fill in the jackpot prizes seen on the left, spelling out ‘Mega’, ‘Major’, ‘Minor’ and ‘Mini’. Spell out a full jackpot to win the corresponding prize, and they pay 5,000x, 500x, 50x and 10x your stake, respectively.

Dragon's Cache comes with a decently engaging audiovisual presentation, and we like the mountain of gold coins in the backdrop. The stacked wilds that land in the base game can deliver okay top-up wins up to 200x your stake at best. Overall, you’re basically just waiting to see which chest token, or combination thereof, that will end up triggering the bonus round this time.

Many times you get single token features, but they can do decent damage on their own. The expanded grid with nudging wilds can deliver single spin payouts up to 400x, while the red token jackpot round can crack the 5,000x potential if you spell out ‘Mega’. The purple random multiplier feature can deliver enhanced payouts as well, but the real magic happens when the upgrades combine. A fairly entertaining release overall, but not too memorable either.
