The whole Infinity Reels engine from ReelPlay (NetEnt has a similar one as well) has been struggling to get off the ground for a good while now, and we’ve been pointing to the “grid reset fatigue” as a possible explanation. Yggdrasil has elegantly solved this problem, not unlike what Blueprint did in their recent Viking Fury Spinfinity. Everything flows seamlessly and smoothly as your winning streaks play out, adding reels with more positions, as well as possibly triggering the progressive win multiplier.

Granted, it’s not always easy to get more than a couple of wins per streak, as this is a highly volatile game after all. The good news is that lengthy winning streaks can lead to solid payouts, not least if you land a 6 of a kind win that starts the progressive win multiplier. The reels can increase to give you up to 6 positions per newly added reel, and neither the win multiplier nor the reel size resets in the bonus round. The 38,837x potential is more than solid enough, and we had a pretty good time testing Candyfinity from Yggdrasil.

You can turn on the Golden Bet between any base game spin, and it will cost you 50 % more per spin to keep it on. The benefit is an unspecified bonus round chance increase, but this ante bet option does not affect the RTP nor the paytable. Speaking of, 6 of a kind wins with the premium symbols pay between 1.25 and 10 x your stake, and the Wild steps in for any pay symbol to help complete and/or improve wins.

The Winning Streak feature kicks in after each win, and this means that all winning symbols become sticky as the reels move one step to the right. This gives you a brand new reel on the left-hand side, and the process repeats for as long as you keep winning. The new reel comes with 4 positions instead of 3, and consecutive wins after that awards a 5 and 6 positions reel, respectively.

If you keep the winning streak going long enough, all 6 reels can have 6 positions. This gives you 46,656 ways to win, and a progressive multiplier kicks in when you land a 6-symbols win. It starts at x2, and the multiplier will then increase by +1 per consecutive win after that. If you land 2 scatters in view, the streak feature triggers as well, even without any win. Everything resets between base game spins.

The Bonus Round triggers when you land 3, 4, 5, or 6 bonus scatters in view, and this gives you 6, 8, 10, or 12 free spins, respectively. Bonus symbols are collected during the winning streak feature in the base game, but they are not present in the bonus round. This means that extra spins cannot be won during the feature.

You get a gamble option if you win less than the maximum of 12 free spins though, and you can win up to 12 free spins if you’re willing to risk the whole feature. The big difference from the base game is that the extra positions, as well as the win multiplier, never resets for as long as the bonus round lasts. Non-UK players can purchase the bonus round for 100x the stake, or pay 500x the stake to be guaranteed 15 free spins in the super version of the feature.

Review Summary

We still had Viking Fury Spinfinity from Blueprint fresh in mind when we tried Candyinfity from Yggdrasil. Both games elegantly resolves the biggest problem with the Infinity Reels engine, namely what we call the “grid reset fatigue”. Having the reels simply shift to the right is a far better solution, and we also like that Yggdrasil has implemented a dynamic grid system with reels that expand per consecutive winning streak spin.

To top it off, they have also included a progressive win multiplier for 6 of a kind wins, and all of this adds up to a pretty solid base game experience. Granted, it can take a while between any lengthy winning streaks, so a bit of patience is needed. The candy world theme is nicely done as well, but visually this game doesn’t really stick out that much. The reel expansion and the win multiplier never resets in the bonus round, which increases your likelihood of closing in on the solid 38,837x potential. Candyfinity is a great game overall, and we hope to see variants with different themes in the future.
