StakeLogic started their PopWins mechanic adventure with the unlicensed CherryPop copycat, Mystery Drop, but have since obtained the license from AvatarUX after a closed-door meeting. Delicious Candy PopWins is their 3rd effort with the grid-expanding mechanic thus far, not counting the above-mentioned installment, and it’s a candyland release with plenty of PopWins action.

The theme doesn’t really stick out from most similar sweets theme releases, and players on a diet should probably keep a distance. The pace is excellent with the turbo switched on though, and you can get multiplier symbols up to x100 in the base game via the Super Stake option. The expanded grid bonus round is the big highlight, and the progressive multiplier can land you payouts up to 10,000x your stake.

There are no wild symbols in this game, but you get different hard candy symbols that pay between 1 and 12.5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. You can turn on/off the Super Stake ante bet feature between base game spins, and it costs twice as much per spin if you activate it. The benefit is that you get multiplier symbols between x2 and x100 in the base game. The multipliers boost any win when they are present, and they are added together if more than one appears.

The PopWins mechanic is, of course, at the center of everything in this game, and winning symbols are removed to be replaced by two new symbols. This means that the grid expands accordingly, and the process repeats for each new consecutive win. The grid can expand up to 6 rows in height in the base game, and up to 9 rows in the bonus round. When maxed out, winning symbols are still replaced, but by one symbol only.

The Bonus Round triggers when you max out the grid in the base game, and you get between 5 and 15 free spins from the upfront bonus wheel. A starting win multiplier is also awarded from the wheel, and it can range from x2 to x10, x5 to x15, or x10 to x25, depending on which wheel that spins.

The grid starts out at 5x6 in size during the feature, and the win multiplier increases by +1 per win. Max out the grid to 9 positions in height, and the win multiplier will increase by +2 per win after that. Reel heights are saved if they reach at least 7 positions in height in the same spin round, and maxing out the grid gives you 118,098 ways to win.

Players in certain jurisdictions will have access to the Bonus Buy feature, but this option is not available in the UK for sure. It comes with 4 options as follows:

Review Summary

Fair enough, the candyland theme is hardly very original, and the same can be said about the tried and tested features. However, one thing StakeLogic has gotten right with this release, like in their previous PopWins efforts, is the PopWins mechanic pace. This is something AvatarUX themselves have struggled with since the beginning, at least from our perspective, and they might wanna take a lesson from Delicious Candy PopWins.

The PopWins are highly satisfying in this installment, instead of being annoyingly slow. This made a big difference for us, and we therefore quite enjoyed what’s on offer here. Multiplier symbols can spice up the base game if you can afford the Super Stake price, and the multiplier keeps increasing in the bonus round. The 10,000x potential seems achievable, and this game is well-worth trying if you were on the fence about the mechanic before.
