Space Coins is another installment in 3 Oaks’ Hold And Win ‘Coin’ series, this time launching you deep into the cosmic spheres in the search for riches. With a classic 3x3 grid boasting 5 paylines, you can look forward to a fast-paced space adventure with otherworldly vibes. Spin the reels accompanied by a retro synth soundtrack, and enjoy the deep blue backdrop of nebulas and shooting stars.

Before you start playing, you need to choose your preferred bet level from €0.20 to €70 per spin, catering to most types of players. You win by landing 3 matching symbols across up to 5 paylines, with red triple 7 Wilds as the top paying symbol. Wilds, of course, also substitute for any pay symbol to help complete wins. The wilds pay 50x your stake for 3-oak, while the bells, BARs, gems, and Xs, award between 30x and 1x your stake for the same.

Our Verdict

3 Oaks continues to churn out Hold & Win slots like there is no tomorrow, this time with a 3x3 setup that should appeal to the nostalgic crowd. Space Coins is another release, not unlike Coin Lamp, that seems heavily inspired by Wazdan’s popular Coin series, even using Coin in the title. The cosmic visuals seem familiar, as do the shimmering gold coins, but the classic fruit slot symbols and gems add a bit of originality.

Unlike Coin Lamp, you can win something in the base game of Space Coins, which makes the experience more balanced. The lucky number 7 wilds can deliver payouts of up to 250x your stake, but this requires filling all positions with wilds. Not something you’ll see too often, perhaps, but that’s the base game max win nonetheless. The dual bell symbols are capable of payouts of up to 150x in comparison, but overall, expect mostly top-up wins in the main game.

I do like that you get to choose from 3 spin speed settings in Space Coins slot, and the top speed option will significantly shrink the time between bonus game triggers. On that note, the main attraction seemed to trigger quite often, at least during my test session, although no stats are available to confirm the hit rate. 3 Oaks has not even disclosed the RTP for this game, but we will update our attributes section as soon as this vital stat is revealed.

Being a fan of Wazdan’s Coin series, I had a decent time testing Space Coins. However, I would prefer if 3 Oaks came up with their own original concept instead of another copycat effort. Borrowing happens all the time in this industry, but it’s the blatancy that’s the main issue here. Getting up to 3 Collect symbols in the bonus game can certainly be lucrative, but only to the tune of up to 3,000x your stake. Not exactly a massive potential, but okay for a charming little 3-reeler like this.
