Moonlight Princess (Pragmatic Play) Review

If you've spent any time with Starlight Princess, Moonlight Princess will look familiar. There's another anime princess, this one with red hair, white wings and a purple dress. Behind her is a castle, and the reels have the usual colourful gems mixed with suns, moons, stars and hearts. Nothing particularly new from Pragmatic Play in terms of artwork. You can turn off the music without muting the sound effects, or the other way around.

Released in October 2026, the slot has six reels and five rows. It doesn't use paylines, so the symbols can land pretty much anywhere. You just need eight or more of the same kind. Once you've got a win, those symbols disappear and new ones drop down. I've always liked this type of gameplay because a single spin doesn't necessarily end with the first payout.

The multipliers are where I'd pay more attention. They appear as little winged hearts, with values ranging from 2x to 500x. Several can turn up during the same tumble sequence, and their values are added together if there's a win. I'd take that over a regular symbol payout any day.

You need four princess Scatters for the 15 Free Spins. During the bonus, multipliers from winning spins keep adding to the total instead of resetting each time. That's a nice difference from the base game, particularly if you pick up a decent multiplier early. Three more Scatters will give you another five spins.

There's a 100x Bonus Buy, or you can use Ante Bet to double the chance of triggering Free Spins for 25% more per spin. Both options keep the RTP at 98%, the same as regular play. Volatility is medium, and the win cap is 5,000x.

I don't think Moonlight Princess is doing anything especially different with the regular spins. The accumulating multipliers during Free Spins are what make it worth a look, although I'd be more interested in seeing a few smaller ones build up than waiting for a single 500x to appear.

Moonlight Princess Features

Most of the features in Moonlight Princess revolve around winning symbols disappearing from the reels and multipliers showing up along the way. Free Spins change things a little, since the multipliers don't reset after every spin.

Pay Anywhere and Tumble Feature

You don't have to match symbols on a payline. Any eight or more identical symbols count, even if they're spread across the 6×5 grid.

The paytable has three ranges: 8–9, 10–11 and 12–30 matching symbols. Suns pay the most, followed by hearts, moons and stars. The coloured gems have lower values.

The winning symbols are removed, and the spaces fill up with new ones. You might get another match straight away, or even a few more before the spin finally ends.

Multiplier Symbols

Look for the winged hearts. They can appear on any reel and carry one of these values:

• 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x
• 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x
• 100x, 250x, 500x

The values are added together during a winning tumble sequence. Say a 5x and a 10x appear before the tumbles finish. You'd get a 15x multiplier on the total win, not 50x.

Without a winning combination, though, those hearts won't pay anything.

Free Spins

You'll need at least four princess Scatters to get 15 Free Spins. The Scatter also has its own payouts:

• 4 Scatters - 6x
• 5 Scatters - 10x
• 6 Scatters - 200x

The bonus uses a different set of reels. More importantly, multipliers from winning spins are kept in a running total. If you collect 8x on one spin and another 12x later, that gives you 20x to work with for the rest of the bonus.

Three or more Scatters during Free Spins add another five spins. Whatever multiplier you've built up stays with you.

Ante Bet and Bonus Buy

Moonlight Princess gives you two options if you don't want to rely entirely on regular spins to reach the bonus.

• Ante Bet: Costs 25% more per spin and doubles the chance of triggering Free Spins
• Bonus Buy: Costs 100x the base bet and takes you straight into the 15 Free Spins

You can't have both switched on at once. The RTP is 98% either way, the same as in the regular game.

I'd be more cautious with Bonus Buy. At a $1 base bet, that's $100 for one bonus, and there's no telling how many useful multipliers you'll get.

Theme & Graphics

Moonlight Princess has that familiar Pragmatic Play anime look. The red-haired princess stands beside the reels in a purple dress, with white wings and a castle behind her. She reminds me of the character from Starlight Princess, although the colours and outfit are different.

The reels are filled with gems, suns, moons, stars and hearts. I like the winged multiplier symbols, which are easy to spot among the regular ones. There's quite a bit of purple and blue throughout the game, but the brighter symbols stand out well.

You can adjust the music and sound effects separately in the game settings.

The Moonlight Princess free play version is also useful for getting familiar with Free Spins. Try to catch four Scatters and watch how the multiplier total changes during the bonus. It's worth paying attention to the smaller multipliers, too, since they can add up over several spins.

I'd also have a look at the Ante Bet setting to see how it changes the cost of each spin. That way, you'll know what the different options do before experimenting with them.

Pros And Cons Of Moonlight Princess Slot

Moonlight Princess has a few things I like, particularly the multipliers during Free Spins. There are also some drawbacks worth considering.

Our Verdict

I wouldn't call Moonlight Princess a particularly original slot. Pragmatic Play has used a lot of these ideas before, and the artwork feels familiar too. Still, I like the way the multipliers work, especially during Free Spins.

The bonus is what I'd be most interested in. Getting a few multipliers early means you have more spins left to benefit from them, and the possibility of adding five extra spins makes that even better. Regular spins aren't quite as appealing to me, although a good tumble sequence with a couple of multipliers can still produce a decent win.

The 98% RTP is a big plus especially with medium volatility. I'd be careful with the 100x Bonus Buy, though. It's a lot to spend on one round when the result is far from guaranteed.
