Habanero has a knack for creating vibrant visuals with their characteristic cartoon-style rendering. Love and Riches: Eldorado is a great example in that regard, but it walks a fine line that almost borders on visual overload. While I appreciate the transparent reels that allow you to take in the stunning Aztec landscape fully, I found myself constantly adjusting my gaze between the spinning symbols in the foreground and the immersive backdrop. Not a huge deal, perhaps, but still worth noting.

On that note, the moonlit coastal backdrop in the bonus round offers a welcome change, with its increased contrast alleviating the visual challenge. The base game doesn’t really offer all that much, except regular wins helped by the wild symbol. However, the symbol values are decent, and at least the top-tier Aztec lady symbol can deliver solid payouts. A full screen of her gets you close to the game’s win cap, but it probably wouldn’t have hurt to include more base game features.

For some reason, the base game doesn’t really come across as boring, though, which is interesting. Perhaps it’s the way the winning symbols pop or that aforementioned “visual overload,” I’m not quite sure. The pace is excellent with the turbo switched on, and the soundtrack lulls you into a pleasant, dream-like state. Overall, I found myself enjoying the experience more than I thought I would. In addition, the bonus round did seem to trigger quite regularly, even with the ante bet turned off.

More transparency regarding the hit rate would still be appreciated, though, as players deserve to know exactly what they are paying extra for. When it comes to the bonus round, the full-reel wild in the middle is certainly helpful to generate far more frequent wins than what you get in the base game. However, it’s a bit of a downer that you can’t land additional wilds.
