Lava Balls is a game that blends traditional slot gaming with plinko. We’ve already seen a few examples of this crossover in iGaming – with Print Studios’ Pine of Plinko and its sequel being the most prominent – and players responded really well to them. This time, Wild Streak Gaming, partner of Pragmatic Play, takes the ball and rolls out Lava Balls (pun intended), introducing its own take on the concept. When these two land together on the same free spin, the number of balls displayed is collected into a meter. Theme & Graphics

I have to say, the Lava Balls online slot makes a strong first impression visually. The whole thing looks well-executed – the graphics are great and the animation’s on par. That said, the design isn’t flawless. The game insists on using old-fashioned sound effects whenever you trigger a feature or land a win, which feels inconsistent with the modern visuals. On top of that, the big win pop-ups – like the smiling one you see in the screenshot below – feel really out of place and somewhat cringy, breaking the immersion, at least for me.

Final Thoughts

I really liked what Wild Streak Gaming cooked here. It’s not often we get to see a plinko-slots hybrid, and that alone makes it feel like a breath of fresh air. But it’s not just the fact that it’s unique that makes it worth attention – it’s actually done really well.

Gameplay-wise, I enjoyed it a lot. There’s constantly something happening, even in the base game, with the action often switching to plinko mode to award multipliers. Yeah, essentially, it’s simply a random wild multiplier feature disguised as a plinko ball drop, but that adds an extra dose of fun, right? And when it comes to the free spins, well… it’s an absolute beast of a bonus round.

Overall, we can easily recommend Lava Balls to anyone looking for something out of the ordinary. It manages to combine a familiar slot structure with a plinko mechanic in a way that feels natural and entertaining, and that alone is highly commendable. I had fun with it, and I’m sure many others will too.
