I have to admit that my brain first read this title as “Emo-twins” for some reason, but Emotiwins is far from a gothic and depressive game. Under the influence of Fat Panda studio’s ideas, Pragmatic Play not only ventured into bold experiments in this game but also radically changed their usual interface, thus offering players a completely new interaction experience.. With a mobile-first vertical design, you’re taken into a charming world of emojis, instant jackpots, and wilds. There are no bonus rounds to look forward to, but let’s cover the basics before we get to the features.

Our Verdict

It’s rare to see Fat Panda do anything drastic with their default game design, or anything at all for that matter. Having played their games for many years now, I’ve gotten used to their interface which seemed all but set in stone. Out of the blue, Emotiwins comes along like it’s the most natural thing in the world, with a mobile-first design that seems inspired by PG Soft games. We know that this vertical display is popular in Latin America and Asia, which is probably the markets Emotiwins is aimed at.

It’s also evident that Emotiwins borrows heavily from Pragmatic Play’s classic-themed Fire Strike 2, also featuring instant scatter jackpots of up to 5,000x your stake, where wilds count as scatters. I prefer this game myself if I had to choose between the two, as Fire Strike 2 boasts a free spins feature with higher jackpot chances and the same solid 25,000x potential. However, fans of mobile gaming and emojis will probably see it differently.

While Emotiwins does have its charm, at least on a superficial level, it’s basically an endless base game grind with no features to break things up. I played over 1,000 spins in my test session, and most of my wins were regular line wins fuelled by wilds. Once in a while, I landed a larger top-up win celebrated by the game with fanfare, but these seldom exceeded 25x. What disappointed me the most was how seldom you land even the smallest instant scatter jackpots.

Only 3-4 times did I get a measly 1x or 2x win from landing 6 or 7 heart scatters, respectively, which felt pointless. In autoplay mode, you’re basically watching your bankroll being drained slowly but surely, with nothing truly exciting to look forward to since the game lacks a bonus round. A free spins feature or similar could’ve made Emotiwins slot more worthwhile, but it may appeal to players looking for a simple gaming experience with a massive 25,000x ‘Hail Mary’ jackpot.
