Our Verdict

While I'm not typically drawn to horror, whether in films or slots, I was undeniably impressed by Print Studios' previous release, Darkness. It masterfully cultivated an atmosphere of genuine dread. Dreadworks attempts to follow suit, but leans more heavily on jump scares than its predecessor's subtle, creeping horror. The anticipation of a terrifying maze-prank-level surprise lurks throughout, but the game never quite delivers a heart-stopping punch. The eye-rolling dolls and razor-toothed teddy bear are certainly unsettling, but they lack the sheer terror needed to make you jump out of your skin.

The dimly lit visuals, while effective in setting the mood, make Dreadworks less suitable for mobile play. To truly immerse yourself in its eerie atmosphere, you'll need the perfect environment: a darkened room, perhaps illuminated by candlelight, a large screen, and high-quality headphones. And make sure to lock your door, as you don't want any unexpected real-life scares adding to the in-game tension.

The base game, while rarely delivering substantial wins, remains engaging thanks to the Superspinner multipliers and Jack-In-The-Box Wilds.
