Our Verdict

While I can appreciate a good classic, the Reel King concept, which took the casino world by storm back in 2014, has been copied so many times it's starting to feel a bit worn out. You can't really blame Reel Kingdom for sticking with what seems to be their namesake, though. At least their previous release, Year of the Dragon King, did spice things up a bit with a multiplier that incremented with each mini slot spin.

This time around, Dragon King Hot Pots game introduces a random mini slot with bigger prizes that might trigger at the end of the bonus round. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of this "maybe" approach. The whole appeal of mini slots is to keep those wins rolling, and I'd much rather see a multiplier increase with each win than hope for a mini slot that might pay something decent. Many times, it does not, since the smallest price is 5x and you may land a blank on the very first spin.

Overall, there are too many "maybes" involved here, both in the base game and bonus round. It would have been much better if the final mini slot always triggered, even if it offered only a single spin instead of indefinite spins. If this single spin could deliver the 5,000x max win, it would keep the tension high all the way. As it stands, the bonus round feels like an agonizing wait to see if that final mini slot will actually show up, because without it, big wins are hardly possible.

On the plus side, you can trigger the mini slot feature in the base game, which some players will probably appreciate. However, with only 1 or 2 mini slots, you're mostly looking at smaller top-up wins to keep you going between bonus rounds.
