It's refreshing to see a less sugar-laden candy world than most similar releases, even if the backdrop feels a bit like a "cut and paste" job with some airbrushing to remove the usual candy overload. Sweets-themed games are difficult to make in any other way, so the real innovation lies in the gameplay mechanics. Candy Corner excels here, thanks to the unique corner modifiers. The visuals of the modifiers, like the cannons shooting wild symbols and massive big wilds, are captivating and add to the overall enjoyment.

However, the game's highly volatile nature means that corner modifiers don't appear as frequently in the base game as one might hope. This, combined with the abundance of dead spins or small wins, can lead to a somewhat frustrating experience. Longer tumble sequences with multiple modifiers are thrilling when they happen, but sadly infrequent. An Ante Bet option, which Pragmatic Play so often includes in their games, is sorely missed in this release as well.

The bonus round is where the corner modifiers truly shine, with 2+ guaranteed per free spin and the potential for up to 4 of the same modifier. I would love to see future installments with a tad lower volatility and more frequent base game modifier action to balance out the experience. That being said, the corner modifiers in their current form worked great in the bonus rounds, although getting there can take a while.
