Aztec Totem
Aztec Totem came out in October 2026 and is one of InOut Games' more unusual releases. There are no reels to spin in Aztec Totem. Aztec Totem (InOut Games) Game Review
Aztec Totem came out in October 2026 and is one of InOut Games' more unusual releases. There are no reels to spin in Aztec Totem. You watch the totem heads appear one by one, hoping to collect three of a colour and move up its multiplier path. The black heads can get in the way, so knowing when to cash out matters. The game has a 95.5% RTP, with wins capped at 150x the bet. Aztec Totem is a game from InOut Games, released in October 2026. It follows the same general idea as Twist, another title from the provider, where you build multipliers and decide when to collect your winnings. I find this kind of gameplay quite different from a regular slot. You're following three coloured paths rather than the usual slot reels, which took me a little getting used to.
The Aztec theme is easy to recognise. There are stone totem heads in green, yellow and red, each with its own multiplier path. The black head looks more threatening, and for good reason. Collecting three of those burns your last multiplier. The artwork has that ancient temple look, with carved stone faces and bright colours. It's a fairly simple design, but I think it suits a game where you need to keep an eye on just a few symbols.

The heads appear one by one, and you're hoping to get three of the same colour. That moves you up a level on the matching path. Each colour has its own multipliers, so I tend to watch all three rather than focus on just one. You can collect your winnings whenever you're happy with the multiplier, or hang on a little longer to see what comes next. There's also Partial Cashout, which I quite like. You don't have to put everything at risk just because you want to keep playing. You can take some of the winnings and carry on with the rest. Of course, the black heads make waiting a gamble. Three of them can undo your latest multiplier progress, which makes the decision to continue a little harder.
The green path has another reason to keep playing. Reach its final stage and you activate a bonus with a random multiplier and a random number of Free Multiplier Spins. There's also a Bonus Buy option costing 100x your bet. It gives you between 10 and 25 Free Spins and removes the black heads, which changes the way you approach the round. Aztec Totem has a 95.5% RTP and high volatility. The maximum payout is 150x the bet, much lower than the win caps you'll see on many modern slots. I wouldn't come to this game looking for an enormous jackpot. What interests me more is the choice between taking a smaller payout now and holding on for a higher multiplier.
Aztec Totem Features
The three coloured paths are what you'll be watching most of the time in Aztec Totem. But there's more to it than collecting matching heads. The black heads can spoil your progress, though, and there's always that question of whether to cash out now or take another chance at reaching the bonus.
Three Multiplier Paths
Green, yellow and red each have their own multiplier ladder. They start at different values, and getting three heads of one colour moves you up a step on that particular ladder.
On the green path, you get 3.9x and 12.5x before reaching the bonus. The yellow one has 2.5x, 7.7x and 16x along the way. Red starts at 1.55x, then goes up to 4.85x and 10x. Those are just the first few values, though, as the paths don't all have the same number of steps. You can be halfway up the green path and still collect heads for the other two colours. Progress isn't limited to whichever path you've advanced the furthest on. All three remain in play as new heads appear.
Black Head Symbol
The black heads are bad news. Collect three and your last multiplier gets burned. That makes things a little awkward when you're close to reaching a higher value. You might only need one more yellow head, for example, but another black one could ruin your progress.
There's no way to choose which head appears next. You can only decide whether to carry on or collect what you've already won. The black heads don't appear in the purchased bonus, which takes away this particular risk.
Cashout and Partial Cashout
One thing I appreciate about Aztec Totem is that you can stop during a round. If you're happy with the multiplier you've reached, you can cash out rather than wait for another head. Partial Cashout gives you a middle option. You take some of the winnings you've built up and leave the rest in play. Of course, whatever you leave in play is still exposed to the black heads.
Bonus Multiplier
There's a bonus waiting at the top of the green path. To reach it, you have to collect enough green heads to move through the multiplier levels.
Once you get there, the game gives you a random multiplier and a random number of Free Multiplier Spins. You won't know beforehand how many spins you'll receive or what multiplier will be awarded. That's part of the appeal of reaching the final green stage.
Bonus Buy and Free Spins
You can also buy your way into the bonus with the Bonus Buy Feature. The price shown in the game is 100x your bet, so a €3 stake puts the cost at €300.
The purchase gives you between 10 and 25 Free Spins. More importantly, the black heads are taken out of play. You can keep collecting coloured heads without worrying about three black ones burning your latest multiplier.

That doesn't mean you're guaranteed a good result. You still need the right heads to appear, and the number of Free Spins you receive can vary. Personally, I'd be cautious about paying 100x the bet for this feature. Aztec Totem has high volatility, and even its maximum possible win is only 150x. That's not much room above the purchase price if you're hoping for a particularly large return.
Theme & Graphics
Aztec Totem has a fairly simple look, with carved stone heads taking up most of the screen. The green, yellow and red ones have different expressions, while the black head looks rather sinister. I think the faces are quite well done, especially since you spend so much time watching them appear.
I like that the colours are easy to tell apart. With several paths moving at different speeds, the last thing you'd want is to struggle to see which head has appeared. The design isn't particularly exciting, but it does make the game easy to follow.
Aztec Totem Free Play
I'd start with Aztec Totem free play to get a feel for how quickly the different multiplier paths develop. It's quite different from watching reels spin, and you may find yourself paying more attention to the black heads than to the colours you're trying to collect.
The Aztec Totem demo is also useful for trying out Cashout and Partial Cashout. You can see what happens when you take your winnings early or leave part of them in play. I'd experiment with both rather than always waiting for the next multiplier.
You can use the demo's virtual credits to explore the green bonus path, too. It may take a while to reach the final stage, but that's part of understanding how the game works. I'd pay particular attention to what happens when the Bonus Multiplier activates and how the Free Multiplier Spins play out.
Pros And Cons Of Aztec Totem Slot
Aztec Totem gives you more control over when to collect a payout than most slots, although the unusual gameplay won't appeal to everyone.
Pros
- Three separate multiplier paths
- Cashout and Partial Cashout options
- Bonus Multiplier on the green path
- Bonus Buy removes black heads
Cons
- Maximum win limited to 150x
- Black heads can burn your latest multiplier
- 100x Bonus Buy is expensive compared with the win cap
Our Verdict
What I like most is having the option to collect a payout before the round is over. In a regular slot, you usually just watch the result unfold. Here, you have to make a decision. You might have a decent multiplier already, but perhaps you're only one green head away from reaching the bonus. I'd find it tempting to continue, even knowing that the black heads could spoil things. Partial Cashout is another feature I appreciate. Being able to take some of your winnings and leave the rest in play makes more sense to me than having to risk everything. I also like that the three colours develop separately. You might be getting nowhere with green while yellow or red keeps moving forward.
I'm less enthusiastic about the 150x maximum win. It's quite modest, particularly for a game with high volatility. The 95.5% RTP isn't especially attractive either. And although removing the black heads sounds appealing, I wouldn't be rushing to spend 100x my bet on Bonus Buy when the biggest possible payout is only 150x. I think Aztec Totem will appeal most to players who enjoy deciding when to stop rather than waiting for a conventional slot result. It doesn't have much variety in its visuals, and the potential payouts are relatively limited, but the cashout decisions give it a character of its own. I'd try the Aztec Totem demo first, particularly to get used to how the three paths develop and how quickly the black heads can change your plans.
