We’re guessing someone over at Pragmatic Play are fans of the Kung Fu Panda movie franchise, as Fat Panda clearly seems inspired by those hilarious movies. It’s not inspired by Fat Rabbit from Push Gaming, however, just to get that out of the way from the get-go. The 5x3 grid comes with a top reel with modifier symbols, and the reels are placed in the middle of a field with classic Chinese architecture on display in the background.

The soundtrack is typical for Asian slots as well, and wilds play a central part in this game. As does the top sliding reel, which provides wilds or expands existing wilds. It can also add multipliers up to x20 to existing wilds, and these multiply together for larger payouts. All wilds are sticky during the bonus round, and this is where you’re most likely to close in on the 20,000x potential. Fat Panda is a good game overall, but it’s a bit too generic to make a lasting impression.

Review Summary

There is no doubt that Fat Panda is a well-crafted game, but it still feels like a fast-food meal if you catch our drift. Pragmatic Play is known for such releases, and their busy schedule is probably the reason. We expected some kind of Fat Rabbit copycat to be honest, but this is far from the case. The Kung Fu Panda charm is noticeable, but the whole thing feels a bit too slick and soulless. The visuals are solid as usual, and Pragmatic Play knows how to create decent Asian-themed slots.

The base game can be a bit too barebones between the modifiers, and they don’t trigger all that often to be honest. They don’t always make a dent when they do trigger either, but getting multiplier wilds up to x20 can, of course, do serious damage on a good day. It helps when the wilds are sticky in the bonus round, and it’s only too bad the super version cannot be triggered organically. The 20,000x potential is solid, and way above what you normally get from Pragmatic, and it comes with a 1 in 11,990,400 spins hit rate.
