Our Verdict

The title of this game really says it all. It’s basically the same game as the original 3 Clover Pots, but with a few “extras” added to the mix to justify a new release. If you enjoyed the first game, there is no reason why you will not like 3 Clover Pots Extra as well, but on the flip side, the extra stuff you get in this game will hardly convince those who couldn't care less about the original game. I fall into the latter category myself, and in addition, I’m no fan of the feature activation free spins bonus concept.

3 Oaks has done little to make the Clover Pots Extra slot stand out visually compared to the original, but if you pay close attention, you may notice that the symbols have been given a slightly different polish. The folksy Celtic soundtrack remains the same as before, but an additional row has been added to create a 5x4 grid instead of the more standard 5x3 size. Not exactly revolutionary stuff, in other words, and the math model hasn’t been tweaked all that much either.

The biggest “extra” you get in 3 Clover Pots Extra is the Rainbow symbol, which admittedly is a decent addition that makes the bonus round potentially more lucrative. This symbol activates additional pot features or upgrades already activated pot features with extra symbols, increasing the likelihood of benefiting from them. Again, not really groundshaking stuff, and one could argue that this is barely enough to justify a new installment.

The original game sank into oblivion rather quickly, and I don’t see 3 Clover Pots Extra making a huge splash either. The pot features are not all that exciting, even if you manage to activate all 3 of them in the same bonus game, and overall, this just feels like a run-of-the-mill Irish luck slot we’ve seen plenty of times before. It offers a superficial charm mostly due to the jolly soundtrack, but the game lacks substance, heart, and soul.
