Playson Q&A: The Timeless Nature of Slots

Playson has had an industrious last few months to say the least. The innovative casino software developer has seen the release of exciting new games, hugely popular tournaments, a new operating licence, and numerous commercial deals. SlotCatalog sat down with Blanka Homor, Sales Director for Playson, to discuss the company’s rise and rise, and its plans for the future.

Playson has been very busy in recent months. Could you let us know what’s been happening?

It’s been an incredibly busy and highly productive period here at Playson recently. Firstly, we’ve seen the release of some of our most innovative games to date. Solar Queen has been a real hit for us, and we’ve made sure to keep players enthused with new slots such as Wild Burning Wins: 5 Lines and Imperial Fruits: 40 Lines, a classic addition to our “Timeless Fruit Slots” series. Offering players diversity and exciting gameplay has always been paramount at Playson. One of the most successful ways we’ve done this is with our cash giveaway tournaments. Having recently increased the winning pot to €30,000, figures from our All Hail The Solar Queen Tournament and Lucky 7 Tournament have shown these cash giveaways to be incredibly popular.

Our aim is to keep honing the gameplay with plans to include more innovative features that keep our players as excited about our new releases and tournaments as we are.

Parallel to releasing innovative games and finding thrilling new ways to deliver them, the company has also been concentrating on expanding its global reach. A long-term project that recently came to fruition was the granting of a Class II Licence to Playson by the Romanian regulator, helping increase our presence in the Balkans. We’ve also signed numerous commercial deals with industry leaders such as LeoVegas and Kindred Group, along with rising stars including SuprNation and TOPsport to help develop our footprint in a variety of markets worldwide.

You mention your recent commercial agreements. What elements of the business have they had the greatest effect on?

We are always looking to expand our global presence here at Playson and enter diverse regulated markets. Through recent deals with mobile gaming brands such as LeoVegas, iGaming solutions companies such as GAN, and large sportsbook and casino brands such as Mr Green and Kindred Group, our automation of the product has been evolving.

Joining forces with operators in different markets such as Klondaika in Latvia, TOPsport in Lithuania and E-Play 24 in Italy, has helped thoroughly test the integration process, which saves time and resources. Our constant exposure to new clients and cooperation with those in new markets has galvanised us, leading to a bespoke service that benefits not only our existing and future partners, but also our players who will reap the rewards of a more streamlined business model.

Could you tell us a little more about the Romanian licence you were granted?

Receiving our Class II Licence from the Romanian regulator has greatly helped extend our reach into the Eastern European market. The ONJN licence has been a major business goal for quite some time and brings with it the exciting opportunity to offer our innovative slots to Romanian players who want them. This has been a hugely significant achievement for Playson as every licence we receive means the more we can offer our slot portfolio to players.

Playson’s offering has a great reputation in the industry – what have been your most popular games and what new games can we look forwards to?

We’ve had some great results from Imperial Fruits: 40 Lines, the latest instalment in our “Timeless Fruit Slots” series. The 4x5 game is a classic slot with some innovative features for the series such as expanding wild, gold and diamond scatter symbols, which deliver regardless of paylines, all delivered in photorealistic animation.

Our latest game, Solar Queen, was only released recently, but has already become a massive hit. It’s an Egyptian-themed 4x5 slot with 20 lines showcasing Wild symbols and winning multipliers, free spins and many other exciting features. It’s been incredibly well-received by Playson fans. The new release’s popularity was emboldened by the simultaneous launch of the All Hail The Solar Queen Tournament on the underlying slot’s release date.

Coming in August, we’re looking forward to releasing Fruit Supreme: 25 Lines, another addition to our Timeless Fruit Slots series. This 4x3 slot has increased gamification discreetly tucked away beneath our classic fruit machine approach, with fruits and Red Sevens as high payout symbols flavoured with X2 multiplier for the whole grid filled with fruit symbols.

How have the tournaments helped with the game promotion and what are your plans for them in the future?

To complement the release of Solar Queen, we launched All Hail The Solar Queen Tournament – a €30,000 cash giveaway played on 250 casinos. Punters receive play-related points which are added to a live leaderboard, with the top 100 winning a share of the pot. These tournaments are an amazing way of introducing new and existing players to our latest games, while also giving them the opportunity to win big. Our Lucky 7 tournament saw a massive 20,343 players enter, with the winner scoring 7,164,645 points.

The jackpots and tournament promotional tools are improving with every event, as we continue into the future. In Q3 we’re planning on adding Daily Jackpots across Playson games. What makes ours distinctive is they are random - players don’t even have to qualify for them. From just 1 spin of a Playson game with Jackpots, you still get a chance to win a jackpot that must be paid at the end of each day.
