Our Verdict

The Reel Kingdom assembly line keeps churning out Big Bass installments like the world is ending, which is quite literally the case in Big Bass Halloween 3. To be honest, it’s hard to keep track of these games by now, and what subtle or less subtle differences there may be from one installment to the next. Reel Kingdom has already explored the dual fisherman trail concept in no less than two previous releases, and the core concept has been wearing thin for a good while already.

At least in my book, if you allow the expression, but I do realize that the Big Bass range is still popular enough to see plenty more installments in the future. The successful Pragmatic Play partner seems stuck in a ‘why change a winning team’ loop, never really daring to stray too far from the original recipe to explore something truly new. That being said, the Halloween theme is a tad above average this time, and arguably the best they have come up with for this seasonal sideshow thus far.

They could’ve replaced the boring old bass with piranhas to spice things up even more, and allow these meat-eating creatures to go into a feeding frenzy whenever the random features trigger. However, it is what it is, and what it is is yet another Halloween clone. You get more fish angling action than usual in the bonus round, though, or at least that was my impression. Also, the 1 in 113 spins bonus hit frequency is worth noting, together with the decent 1 in 2,544,391 max win hit rate of Big Bass Halloween 3.

If you’re tired of the regular fishing themes or don’t like the somewhat strange Vegas or boxing themes of the predecessors, Big Bass Halloween 3 stands out as a solid alternative. If I had to choose between the dual bonus trail installments, I would probably go with this one, whether it’s Halloween or not.
