Aesthetically, it’s rather peaceful and set against trees and a meadow – symbols on the reels include A, K, Q, J and 10 playing card symbols are depicted by vegetables like green beans, carrots and parsnips. Then you have garden tools and 3 flowers (Venus Flytrap, Snap Dragon and Dandy Lion)– the Dandy Lion is the highest value giving you 1,000 times your line bet for 5 on a payline.

The wild symbol is the red feminine flower which replaces any other symbol, except the scatter, to give you the best possible winning combination – the wild only appears on the 3 central reels in the base game. When wilds appear, they expand to cover the entire reel if you’re to get a winning combination. If you manage to get 3 wild reels, results can be huge.

Then you have the Free Games feature which is played when 3 or more scatters appear anywhere on the reels – like other Playtech titles, you can select the Feature On mode which costs you double your stake (so 50p per spin at minimum stake). If you enable the Feature bet, scatters become Power Scatters – this means that Power Scatters trigger the Free Games feature even if partially visible on the reels.

Once in, you will have to choose between Carrot Spins and Parsnip Spins – the number of free spins in both features is unlimited until the scatter symbol lands 4 times on reel 5. Here’s details on both the Carrot and Parsnip Spins.

In Carrot Spins, you can benefit from a dynamic win multiplier on every free spin – it begins at 1x and increases when a scatter symbol lands to take it up to 2x. The second time it lands, the multiplier goes up to 3x. If it lands a third time, it goes up to 5x. If it does land a fourth time, the feature will end.

In Parsnip Spins, the scatter landing will change 1 of the 3 high value symbols into extra wild symbols – the first time a scatter lands, all Venus Flytrap symbols turn into wilds. The second time a scatter lands, all Snap Dragon symbols turn into wilds and the third time, all Dandy Lion symbols become wilds. If you get a 4th scatter, the feature ends. The only negative is that extra wild symbols do not expand as do wilds in the base game!

Fields of Fortune is a fun and colourful slot which is Playtech’s answer to Net Entertainment’s Flowers as I see it – the variance is in the middle with balanced payouts in both the base game and free spins features. I’ve had my biggest wins from 3 expanding wilds on 1 spin in the base game but the Parsnip Spins feature has proved more fruitful than the carrot spins due to having potentially 4 wilds on every free spin!
